Our stay in Baia del Silenzio (Caprioli di Pisciotta)
OUR STAY IN BAIA DEL SILENZIO (CAPRIOLI DI PISCIOTTA) We rent an apartment (2 separate bedrooms each one with its bathroom) for 8 nights in FB treatment. We arrived around 7.30 pm, checked-in and the receptionist showed us the apartment. Everything was clean and proper, except : - Terrace wasn’t private : the apt. is one of the three in the same building. Our was at the main floor, next to another one (walls attached), on the roof there’s the third. The terrace on the main floor is simply separated with a kind of grid, privacy isn’t allowed. Outside there’s no plug (it was for baby phones..) - Kitchen was fully furnished except soap and towels. Ok we were in FB, but with 2 little girls some glass or cup it’s needed… - Our bathroom : no soap and glass offered at all. The shower was in, but if you want to use it, you have to stand up between WC and bidet, praying all the water flushes away in the tiny hole on the floor. . - Girls bathroom : shower pipe was broken (suddenly fixed by maintenance as soon as we asked for), no hair dryer (we waited for 5 days to get one the reception hires) - In general Wi-Fi didn’t work up there At your arrival, you get a card on which you have to charge money in order to pay extras. The card is chargeable only by cash (at least 5 EUR) and in the village there’s no ATM at all. There are only two person you have to pay by cash if you want some of their services : the photographer and the Indian merchant who sells bracelets and necklaces (I could be wrong but maybe also the hairdresser …) After having left our luggage in the apt, we had to leave the car upstairs on the parking for roof apt or in the main car park (not surveyed). The receptionist suggested us to hurry up to get the transfer in order to have our dinner : restaurant closes at 9 pm. Transfers are suspended between 8.30 pm and 10pm. The first time we quickly walked until the restaurant….and we discovered how the street was to go down there were the main structure is : slope of 45%. I’m pregnant and the girls are 4 and 5 y.o. that was the first and the last time we made it by foot. Once to the restaurant we walked in presenting ourselves to the maître with our family name. He asked us if we made a reservation and we answered we were in FB. We discovered that on the sea view terrace were allowed to stay if you are à la carte guest, otherwise you have to stay in, except for breakfast if you find a place. Inside was awfully noisy, hot and mess. We got our table which was the same for the all stay. Service was horrible, we got everything late and nobody explained us how to fill the card for choosing the meal the day after. Kitchen was tasty at least. Also there Wi-Fi wasn’t running. After having explained our remarks to the maître (and to the reception), everybody assured us they’ll manage the problem and prayed us to give them faith. The days after it was maybe even worst, sometimes. By our point of view kitchen wasn’t able to support the request of so many guests all together and moreover in a such tiny delay of opening times. Service in fact was pretty fast, problems to solve also in this dpt, but fine.. Breakfast buffet was really poor, fruits were offered as dessert by lunch but in the morning the choice was miserable. The only coffee you can get is by the automatic machine, outside, in the bar you find the good one, by payment. Restaurant opening time : 8.30 am-10 am 12.30 pm-14pm 7.30pm-9pm A Pizzeria is in the restaurant. We announced the day before, we’ll have a pizza on the following day. We chose and payed separately at the pool bar, we discovered that there was a surcharge of 5EUR because pizzeria is managed by externals (and wasn’t exchangeable with a meal of our FB, but for that we got a refund at the check-out). We evaluated also to quit the FB accommodation and keep only B&B since, as said before, there was the chance to eat “à la carte” (and on the terrace). No way, “à la carte” offered the same meals as the FB did. You did not have a proper menu with the offers and prices, the waiter only told you the meal between you could choose. Let’s go on.. as we said before, transfers were active : 1 shuttle for the whole complex. And with followings break times : 1.30 pm - 2 pm / 8.30 pm -10 pm. It means that after the lunch you have to wait the shuttle till 2pm, and after your dinner you have to wait till 10 pm. Read it : you have to spend your time following animation team and staying at the pool bar. Otherwise you have to calculate exactly the timing for: leaving soon the beach, go up to the apt and get a shower in a rush, in order to get the shuttle down road, eat and get the shuttle back before 8.30 pm. Pool : great view, seemed to be clean, swimming cap mandatory. This information you’ll discover only once there. If you want you can buy it in the shop (which doesn’t sell holiday cards anymore..). Pool closing time 1.30 pm-3.30 pm Beach : sea&sport card club is mandatory by your booking for every guest. It includes beach activities such pedalo, SUP, …and 1 sea umbrella+2 sea bed (for adults). At your arrival you choose your place and that one will be for the all stay. The beach is partially stony and partially sandy, water isn’t really deep. Music was pretty disturbing. There’s a market in the village. We waited 6 days to get the coffee in order to have it in the apt first in the morning (made by moka, which was furnished). We gave up. Generally the village is uncomfortable and really noisy, in particular because of the guests with little children and this isn’t a management fault, but music and spaces weren’t well thought. Is a dog friendly hotel, which for us isn’t a problem, but some of them were left free and wasn’t that safe… About safety, most of the fences and balconies aren’t enough high and protected for little children. A note : the full contract you’ll receive once you have payed the 30% of the amount of the stay, and most of our discoveries aren’t written in it.. Positive points of the complex : - Maintenance really fast and able - Cleaning was good - Kitchen was fine - All the staff was friendly and tried to make our stay comfortable. It seemed that something in the management is not properly working and it’s sad. A note : our apt. was directly over the camp of the restaurant staff : on the terrace you hear everything in the surroundings... - Beach was clean and sea temperature was agreeable - animation team is fair and don't insist in taking part to activities
Camping like
We were visiting Pisciotta and thought it would be nice to stay by the sea for a snorkeling. We arrived late as asked to have a late checkout. The receptionist said if there were rooms available we could leave around 2 PM, instead of the regular 10 AM. So interesting. Starts at 4, but ends at 10 AM. Is it correct? A lot less than the 24 hours. First thing, the very far parking. You have to take all the luggage montain up and down by yourself. Then the put us in a chalet that is really far away from the road. So my parents, realy on their 80s, would have to take more than 60 stairs until the chalet taling their luggage. Even if we wanted to pay for it, nobody was available to take their luggage. Finally, the chalet was away too simple, restroom separated by the room for a plastic thin “door like” structure. On the following morning there were plenty of rooms available at the website but they would not let us stay longer even if we paid for... this was the only part of the trip we want to forget. The place itself looks like a camping and not like a 4 stars hotel.
a relaxing 4 day break with family and grandchildren
I rented a bilocale # 62 for my son and his family with a child 0-2 (free) and a child 3-5 €15 a day and €94 per day for the 2 adults. This was on a half board basis. Buffet breakfast and table service for dinner. Tha bungalow, with seaview, was well furnished with an adjoining room for the children. There was an adequate terrace with seating and eating arrangements and a small kichenette with fridge. Overall a perfect choice representing good value for money. We, on the other hand, rented a monolocale # 42 for which we paid only €5 less than the one just described. It felt rather basic and somewhat claustrophobic. On my next visit I will definitely book a bilocale and preferably adjacent to one another. There is an additional charge of €18 p.p. for the duration of the stay for the use of the Club Mare Sport, like pedalos and canoes (I presume) Our stay was a great sucess, the grounds are a beautful mix of trees and mediterranean vegitation. The infinity pool is unfortunately not suitable for small children unless in the company of an adult. Swimming caps are to be worn and can be purchased there. There's a supermarket and a carpark on site. Small golf carts commute to and from the pool area to the reception, on a regular basis. The beach is provided with loungers and umbrellas and there's a special section allocated to dogs and their owners. We hope to return soon with more members of the family. To be recommended!!
Great great great... Panorama, pool, mini club for kids...
Great great great... Panorama, pool, mini club for kids, cayak... Lots to to for kids and adults. Mini market is complete. transfer to station is not expensive, so you can enjoy your stayin even if you don't have a car
Could hardly be called silent...be prepared for extra costs too
Was expecting given the name and descriptive materials a relaxing and quiet vacation. The promotional materials say "Perfect harmony among nature, relax, sport and fun" The pictures show a few people meditating on the beach and peaceful, empty beaches. Our reservation said that it included linens, towels and cleaning. Unfortunately the reality is a bit different. Very crowded and a party atmosphere. The pros: kid-friendly, had a reasonably priced restaurant and had sports equipment available. The pool is beautiful. The cons were significant. First, there was false advertising - all towels (not just beach towels) were extra cost. I've never stayed in a hotel where you had to pay for towels to shower. Cleaning was also extra cost. Pool use was extra cost, but mandatory to pay for. All in all it added another 30% cost to the stay. There were not enough linens for the room, and any further were again extra cost. There was crazy level of noisy music going late into the night (past 1 am most nights), and because there are only shutters on the windows, you cannot block it out. There are constant activities going on during the day, miked so that the whole village can hear. It's not at all a place of peace and quiet. They close the pool during the hottest part of the afternoon. This place could turn it around by being upfront about the type of experience and honest about the costs they charge.
