Diamond in the rough
Been staying here at the Playa Del Carmen hotel in Playa Del Carmen, MX. of course off the main strip by a couple blocks and it is like paradise. They have a small hotel with food and drinks on site. The owners are amazing and the staff here treat you like a king. Rooms are adequate and the food is amazing. The only thing better are the amazing people surrounding you. They are just happy to make you feel at home. Try it and you will be hooked.
Do not expect to have a well working shower
We arrived in the evening and did have some trouble finding the hotel. The receptionist was friendly. The hotel is really located in two buildings, where as the «old wing» is the one you see on the pictures with the pool. The new wing is connected on every floor. Our room in the new wing was extremely minimalistic - white walls, a big bed, a TV (just spanish spraking channels) and one night stand. No chairs. The window was looking out on a kind for atrium shared by all the rooms, so you could go out and look straight into everybody elses room. But the real problem was the bathroom. The shower was a kind of rainforest thing sitting high up in the roof over an huge tub. No curtains. When using it in the morning the room was flooded. Mainly because half of the water came out sideways splashing everywhere. To complete the disaster the bathroom is a bit higher than the rest of the room, so the water cascaded from the bathroom on to the room. Needless to say we had to switch rooms. Our second room was in the old wing. Much better - in addition to the same type of bed, there were a table and two chairs. The shower was a more traditional one. Even though it took about 10 min for the water to become luke warm and the pressure was not very good. However the aircontition functioned in both rooms. There were safes and it looked clean. They do not change your towells unless you pay for it, and there is just Wifi near the reception. The pool was cold, but looked nice. There’s supposedly a restaurant, but we never saw anyone eating there, and was told by other guests that they had waited over an hour when they tried having breakfast. The location however is quite good.
Convenient downtown location and awesome pool
I stayed at SC Hotel Playa del Carmen for 3 nights. Very friendly and pleasant staff. The hotel is within a walking distance to restaurants, the beach, and shops. The main attraction is a pool open from 8am to 9pm. Room was clean, and overall a decent stay in downtown location.
Good location, lovely staff and pool
We stayed in this hotel as part of a group tour, and arrived a few days early. The hotel is well situated, near a few restaurants and the beach, and it has a fairly large swimming pool, with quite cold water (January). Our room was basic, but fine, and after the first night, when we had a room with no windows, which looked onto a large meeting room, we asked to be moved to a room with windows overlooking the street, which was much better. Both rooms were clean, the A/C worked well, and they had similar showers, but the shower in the second room was better than the first. We didn’t have breakfast in the hotel, as when we went to see, it looked quite tired, but the staff were always helpful.
Our best vication
We had an amazing vacation in a special hotel with lovely staff and excellent service. Specially mention Tony reyes, a charming man with excellent service who has made our staying at the pool to unique experience. Thank you very much.
