The Descobertas Boutique Hotel is a four star hotel situated in the heart of Porto, in the middle area of Ribeira, one of the oldest and most characteristic streets of the city. The rooms are decorated with a theme of the Portuguese discoveries, "Cabo Verde, India, Brazil and Macao" are the start point of one unique décor in which all the textures, colors and details create a true allegory of multiculturalism. The property is situated on a pedestrian street and does not have private parking. To access the hotel by private car, there is a barrier at the beginning of the street that only opens f...More details

This hotel is at a central location, right by the river and many restaurants. It is a 10 minute walk to the station, however it is quite hilly so keep that in mind! Even though it’s in a very busy and lively spot, it quietens down after midnight so noise was never an issue for us. The hotel was kept clean and the rooms were tidy. However, one small criticism was that the mattress was uncomfortable. Although the breakfast options were fairly limited, it was freshly prepared with choices of cereals, eggs, yogurts, breads and a selection of tasty pastries. The staff were nice and provided help when needed.
Average hits with rude staff

The front desk lady was so rude during our stay. We booked online and once we got to the hotel around 5pm (after check in time) our booking didn’t show on their computer. It was fine as we had all the confirmations but the woman kept insisting that it wasn’t in her computer. She was not trying to find a solution, she was very rude and unfriendly. We got the room after some unpleasant exchanges with this persons. The room was modern and very clean but the beds are worn out and very uncomfortable. The pillows are not comfy. The matters seem to be very old as they have a whole in the middle. The windows do not block the sound from outside so it’s very very noisy. The front desk won’t try to be Gringet or even make eye contact. It’s weird to see someone in the front desk..... I will not go back nor recommend this hotel.

Super spacious room (big as a small apartment), with a fridge and everything you need in the bathroom! Excellent position to visit Porto with everything with in walking distance! Very good breakfast, well organized with Covid regulations. Very nice staff!

Great location near the river, restaurants and attractions!!! All employees were very professional and friendly, specially the hard working ladies at the breakfast room, they were super nice, no english needed, just a great attitude!!! The rooms are nicely appointed and so is the bathroom!!! Try the restaurant next door, it's great!!! I think is called Postigo de Carvao.
Enjoyed the stay

This hotel is a small property ( I think about 20 rooms), a 3 minute walk from the Duoro river. Stayed here for 6 nights and enjoyed the area it was located in- lots of restaurant choices, ATM and small grocery store nearby. Good breakfast but after a few mornings, would have like perhaps an omelet, pancakes and more bacon. The room was not overly large but for one person more than enough. Modern bathroom with a shower only. Mini bar, coffee maker and staff replenished tea bags as requested. I know it is a Portugese thing- the reluctance to accept credit cards but surely when you order a car to drive you to the airport, some sort of credit card payment should be accepted by the hotel. Ditto for buying a HOHO bus pass. The street the hotel is on is a pedestrian only route except for garbage trucks at 630 in the morning. Noise by revellers on Friday/Saturday night also lasted well into the early morning. Take earplugs.
