Wish we had another option

Reviewed 29 august, 2021

We stayed here for four nights. To be honest we chose it because it was really the only option for where we wanted to be. We needed to be close to family and driving to Houma wasn’t going to work. When we checked in it was very difficult to communicate with the lady at the desk. Now I get with Covid the mask and plastic shields don’t help. I couldn’t understand a word she was saying and she got nasty with me. She was having an issue with the credit card machine and again got short with me. After traveling all day and anxious to get to my families house I wasn’t interested in wasting time. When we got into the room I’m pretty sure they either gave us the wrong room or the pictures online are deceiving. We reserved a two bed suite. That in itself was deceiving. We originally though we reserved a two bedroom suite. Poor wording. The pictures online make it appear like a larger room. So be careful with that if you require a larger room. We basically dropped out bags off and left. Didn’t get back until late that night. I was pretty sure the sheets were not clean. The next morning my husband noticed what looked like blood on the sheets with a hair stuck to it. Ughh. Unacceptable. The room itself also wasn’t the cleanest. He went to the front desk to tell them. The women at the desk basically told him okay we will change the sheets. No apology. Nothing. As far as the positive there was a lovely women that was working in the breakfast area. She was so sweet. I wish I could remember her name. She greeted us every morning. We had a nice conversation. As far as the breakfast selection it was a very minimal selection. But good enough to get something quick before heading out. All in all this is it if you need to be in the area. If we actually had a clean room I would have given it three stars. The dirty sheets were unacceptable. I didn’t Have time to discuss with a manager during my stay because of the situation we were dealing with during our stay. I would be very interested in speaking to a manger.

Good Service! She needs a raise

Weekend Stay 30 APR 21 to 01 MAY 21 for a friend's wedding. The customer service was excellent after getting in pretty late; we went down for two water bottles and an extra blanket. The lady working the desk was so kind. I watched her deal with a rude customer checking in. She handled the situation with such CLASS. She continue to be professional even after the customer yelled at her. As a business owner, I realized it's not always what the customer says. GOOD, passionate, and professional worker, one you need on your team because in this modern era, it's hard to find.

Mardi Gras Surprise.

Reviewed 23 february, 2020

With 5 continuous days of rain in Atlanta, I needed an escape. decided to pop down to Mardi gras in New Orleans for the weekend. However, last minute looking for hotels, found them to be extremely expensive averaging between 250 to 300 plus dollars a night. Slidell and several other adjacent towns also had expensive hotels. Found a less than $100 rate in baton rouge, but that was more than 80 miles away. Another search discovered this hotel in raceland which is about 45 miles from the City of New Orleans. However even with the best traffic it takes almost an hour to get to New Orleans from here. At night driving to the hotel makes you think you're about to drive to the other side of the Earth. it got darker as I left the city and all I saw were refineries and chemical factories. However, once I found the hotel I was pleasantly surprised. Parking Lot- Is pretty much concrete without a lot of vegetation around. But it is of an ample size to handle all of the cars that came in that night. Entrance and Lobby- Well, frankly they look like they were brand new everything had a nice shiny appearance. the front desk agent on duty was also very nice and hospitable and got me checked in very quickly. Room- This was a real good surprise. My room was long and deep with a little wall separator that had a sleeper sofa couch and additional chairs in it. From the tile to the carpet, it looks like this room was built yesterday. I saw absolutely no signs of wear and tear on the furniture. as for appliances it comes with a microwave, a coffee maker, and a small refrigerator. This room could easily sleep two adults and two kids. Bed- I had a nice queen size bed and though it wasn't super plush it was comfortable. The bathroom is not large but two people can move around in it. The only issue I have is the same one I have with most hotels, the rooms are too cold when you walk into them. I cut on the heater went downstairs and read my tablet for about 20 minutes, and when I came back the room was nice and toasty. In summary, because of its distance from New Orleans this is not a hotel that you will come in and out of several times a day. It is one of those where you leave in the morning do all of your activities and then come back for the 50 minute drive late at night to your hotel. Because of the special event pricing of the hotels in New Orleans, I can easily say this hotel was half the price and just as good or slightly better than some I have stayed at in New Orleans before near the airport. So yes, I do recommend it as long as you do not mind the long drive from here back to the City of New Orleans. if you know you are going to be going in and out of your hotel frequently each day, then I would suggest a hotel closer to the city such as the ones near New Orleans international airport. Their prices in the past have been comparable, when there was no special event. attached are some photographs that I took with my tablet so you can see what the hotel looks like.

Terrible place

We stayed at this hotel for 2 nights to attend a wedding , staff is very rude and intrusive , we came back at 1230 midnight from the wedding , the moment we got to our hotel we git call from desk ( who we just passed by ) and asked us is someone walking in my room , I told res we just got In the room , we are changing and going to sleep , he was very rude , I have never been insulted by a hotel staff like that , I asked him what he wants me to do . We were not even taking in the room , we were tired but need to change an ego to sleep . I have traveled allover the world with 164 reviews on trip advisor but never encountered any thing like that where you can not even walk-in your room . This hotel needs to train their staff to be professional . There is no manger on duty here , good luck finding help .

Pleasant Surprise

Reviewed 17 june, 2019

What a nice hidden surprise in Raceland, LA. One of the front desk clerks, Delilah, was one of the most attentive and friendly folks I've ever encountered at an IHG facility. She gave great recommendations on local restaurants, and was very accommodating on getting me a nice room so I could work and rest quietly. The facility is pretty nice, it seems they have either just remodeled or the building itself is new. Parking is plentiful and well lit at night. The elevators are a little slow, but it was never terribly busy to have to wait. Breakfast was standard IHG fare. I do appreciate that they use paper plates instead of styrofoam, and the folks working the breakfast area were polite and cheery. Wifi worked well, AC in the room worked well, and the linens were nice and crisp. Only complaint was the toilet seat was a little loose. Other than that, this was a nice facility with outstanding service.
