Classy hotel with vintage flair in Monti
Reviewed 24 March, 2020
The location of this hotel is perfect. It is situated in the heart of Monti district within a walking distance to Termini train station and to all sightseeing spots. I was happy to be welcomed with a mini bottle of prosecco as a welcome gift! I have enjoyed the hotel's classical style interior that included marble bathroom, drapes and wooden furniture. Breakfast was continental and enough to satisfy everybody even though breakfast venue is rather small and can get crowded during high season. I will be glad to book a stay in this hotel again!
Worn down and too expensive hotel
Reviewed 5 January, 2020
I stayed 5 nights in Viminale, for which I paid 500 euros. They charge an additional travelling tax of 6 euros per night, which i don't remember was specified on their website, but it happened before in Italy to me. It is absolutely NOT a 4 stars hotel.
The breakfast is only composed of processed industrial food, it's in a tiny room. It's a bit shameful when you know how cheap and fresh food can be in Italy, even in Roma.
I was given a bedroom upon arrival where I couldn't almost sleep for two nights because of a broken airconditioner that was super noisy. After two nights I asked the staff to change bedroom, and the person who helped me was very nice and immediately handed me the key of a different bedroom. In the new bedroom I have to say the aircon was also a bit noisy but I could sleep with earplugs.
The decoration of the hotel is very worn out, but it's kind of charmful. Otherwise it's not clean, bodyhair in the bedsheets, and I don't think they have vacuum cleaned under the bed for weeks. They don't replace bathroom supplies when they come to "clean" the room. The internet does not work very well in the upperfloors.
This said however the location of the hotel is very convenient, and the area absolutely charming. Other than that, it's a really abusive price for the standards of housing they provide.

If all your worried about is location then stay at Viminale, it is about a 15 min walk to the Colosseum and other attractions like Trevi Fountain. The hotel itself is very worn down, uncomfortable beds and pillows, mold in the tiles in the showers, air conditioner did not work, the hallway carpeting had the worst moth ball or mold smell to the point I couldn't even breathe. Also you are charged an additional 6 euros per person per night to stay. Def regret choosing this place.
NOT a 4 Star Hotel!
Reviewed 28 September, 2019
The location is ideal, the staff is friendly and helpful, and the breakfast is great. HOWEVER, this is an old, worn-down boutique hotel that does not deserve a 4 Star rating. We don't mind paying 3 Star prices for a 3 Star room or 4 Star for 4 Star. But we booked because this hotel is supposed to be comparable to a Hyatt, Hilton or Marriott. It is not! Rooms are very small, bugs in the bathroom, interior walls were faded and damaged and the lift had not been inspected since March 2013! Go with a name brand and pay the name brand price. This was very disappointing!
perfect for the price

I was a little nervous about going after reading some reviews but... turns out to be a nice clean Hotel. Perfect for the price. 20 minute walk from all major sites. Breakfast was nice. We ate on the terrace outside. 5 minute walk from central train station.
