Preferred hotel for business travel in the area
Opinión escrita el 7 de Julio de 2019
Both the restaurant and hotel are the preferred location for regular business travel in the area. Rooms are not overly spacious but all the necessities are available. Quality of the furniture, especially the bed, is very high and provide a pleasant stay. The staff is friendly and helpful.
Historic connections in modern chic

Only open 5 years, this hotel-restaurant in a historic conversion has a lot of charm, very friendly staff and a good breakfast! It's less than a half-mile from the ferry terminal, but is quiet, and with water views. Our room was in the annexe Mijn Badehuis, just to the rear, and was very comfortable. We didn't eat in the restaurant, but along the shore, though the menu was tempting. We'd stay again if using the Harwich ferry - it's good value!
Nice and Cozy

Good place for stay, clean rooms, good breakfast, nice location, many shops in 100 meters, very close to bus station and ferry station. Also many food restaraunts just need to walk few minutes. Nice seaport view for "ship spotters".

Excellent value for money in seafront location
Opinión escrita el 15 de Octubre de 2018
This hotel has been a real find for a final night before catching the ferry to Harwich. You can relax knowing that the driving has been completed! It represents very good value for money. The motel-style rooms are modern and pleasant, with comfortable beds, ceiling fans, lovely walk in showers, intriguing stone basins, a little fridge and a kettle. The cold breakfast is quite simple but well prepared and certainly adequate. (They will cook eggs on request.) We have eaten in the restaurant when we have stayed there and enjoyed the meals while watching the activity on the water. The shared tasting starter is a lovely option. Above all, though, the staff are delightful; very helpful, attentive, friendly and nothing seems too much trouble. They are competent speakers of English. We will have no hesitation in using the Torpedoloods again.

We stayed for two (non-consecutive) nights in August of 2018, during the longest heatwave ever recorded in the Netherlands. This hotel (like so many in this country) has no air-conditioning, it was a sauna, and that's the reason for the 4 stars instead of 5. Location is very convenient, close to the Stena ferry terminal and walking distance from downtown. You can walk to the beach via the boardwalk along the ship channel in 30 minutes (or drive in 5 minutes to the main parking). The hotel building is located behind the restaurant, which has a beautiful interior and a nice patio. We've had lunch here a few times, and the food and drinks are good. The rooms are modern and roomy with view of the railroad (no longer in service). Unfortunately we missed breakfast both times because we had to leave so early, but the hotel packs a takeaway breakfast for you. Nothing fancy but nice gesture. We have already made reservations to come back during our next trip in November.
