What a charming town and great restaurant.

Roure is only an hour from Nice, but it is like being one another planet. So quaint, charming and beautiful. Deborah, the owner of the hotel and restaurant, is absolutely wonderful, both was a hostess and as a chef. The meals were extraordinary. The hiking in the area is superb. Don't miss the Arboretum de Roure, situated just above the town. It has an amazing collection of plants and trees from around the world and is working hard to restore native vegetation in the area. Clement, the manager and guide, is so knowledgable and his English is great. Don't miss this place.

Me and a friend are currently on a trip around Europe and featured this hotel in after coming across it by accident to selection of teas and coffees, and in the bathroom there was shampoo, conditioner and body wash supplied, along with towels. The beds were comfortable too. Above all, what really stands out beyond any other hotel that we stayed during this holiday is the view out the window... Its spectacular. The room might not have a television but you could sit and look out the window all day and you wouldnt get bored of it. But this is not just a hotel, on the ground floor there is also an amazing restaurant! Its a set course menu but the food was amazing! There is 2 options, 4 course and 6 course, priced at 42 and 59 euros. Ive have never eaten in a Michelin star restaurant but I'd imagine it taste something like the meal that we were presented at this restaurant. I cant say that I've ever eaten anything that was served to us before but it was all so good, well worth the money. I didn't catch the names of the two owners but they clearly both really enjoy running the hotel and were very passionate about both the hotel and the food in the restaurant! I will never forget this hotel and hope that one day I will be able to come back.

Romantic hideaway On top of the Mountain: our room had the spectacular view into the deep valley. We were awakend by the lovely sounds of birds. Very nice bedding. Simple but clean and bright rooms! Good shower! Of you are looking for regional biological, „no frills“ fantastic food: It’s your place to go! Deborah and Kevin had enough of the blingBling Clientèle of the Côte d‘Azûre and decided to go for beautiful handpicked and regional dishes. They took the chance to revive this gem of a place only over a year ago. THEY ARE DOING MORE THAN FINE! There are two menus available in the evening. One for 49, the other for 59€. Drinks not included. Everything was delicious. I like the idea, that they say no to Coca Cola, Perrier and other drinks that come from big companies. Instead they serve limonade ,craftbeer and gingerbeer from the region. And beautiful teas and excellent wines. They even prefer to give you free cristalclear refreshing mountaintabwater then expensive water from the bottle. Try to have breakfast there! A TREAT for sugar lovers. We didn’t ask for eggs, I am pretty sure they would have served some, since they have their own chicken in the garden. We had lovely homemade jams and the BEST sheepyoghurt i ever had. Of course, it comes from the neighborhood. Tasty homemade breakfast juice: carrot/Apple and Biolemon. The village itself is very, VERY quiet, only 45 inhabitants. That’s why it is soo charming! Go there while close to Nizza/ Nice. It is well worthwhile the detour! The drive up there is one of the nicest mountain routes you will encounter. Incredible what these 2 “youngsters” are up to!
What a fantastic place

We had stayed here once several years ago and thoroughly enjoyed our short stay and had then always planned to return but stay longer. This time we stayed 3 nights and it was wonderful. We were primarily there for walking, wildlife and food. What can we say? The village, hills, forests and mountains are beautiful; hard to reach and out of the way (long may it stay that way) and there is certainly the odd 'frisson' getting there. Just the way we like it. Lots of cats around the village - all of whom seem to have a sense of humour. Our double room was simple (don't expect fancy), tasteful and elegant with brilliant views over the deep and very beautiful valley; the food was stunning (but never pretentious) including some unexpected taste combinations which worked excellently; truly delicious and wonderfully presented and all using local ingredients (when we left we immediately drove to get some of the raw milk brebis sheep Tomme). Déborah and Kevin are absolutely charming - even making us feel like we spoke better French than we actually do! The wines we had were great and oh yes, the Mercantour beers are really good too. We definitely hope to be back and wish them all the very best.
Mountain Inn with fine dining and views

Delightful, querky, hotel and restaurant in the hillside village of Roure 06420. Chef very adventurous in 'fine dining' and fairly successful at it. Owners very keen to provide all that you could want. One or two details missing, but nothing really important. Expect a rambling cottage over several floors equipped with quality fittings. Views are stunning, particularly from the dining room. Think of Devon lanes only more vertical. Allow half an hour from the main road in the valley. The road is not too steep, but mainly single track with passing places and tunnels and sheer drops to the side. Forget the sat nav. The Hotel is signed from the one road through the village, off and down Rue Centrale - which is a set of steps ( as shown in their photo). Not for the unfit or faint hearted. But worth it when you get there.
