A discrimimating establishment

Reviewed 13 july, 2022

We traveled a long way to sleep at this hotel for just a night as part of our roadtrip in Germany. As a person with coloured skin you very quickly get the feeling what you are not welcome here. Within 5 min into our stay I was told, from the staff, in a very harsh tone that "we only speak german in Germany!" Understanding, but not speaking german, I felt discriminated and unwelcome. In addition the host was rushing us all the time. She was harsh and aggressive. I do not recommend supporting this establishment.

Wish we were there longer.

We stayed here only for one night on a cycle tour, at the end of a long and rainy day of riding. I really wish we had another night to really appreciate the beautiful building and lovely surroundings. Frau Kind, who checked us in due to our late arrival was lovely. The room was huge! Lovely sitting area, high ceilings, big windows with nice heavy curtains to block out the sunlight. The breakfast was very good (this is important when bike touring, so hungry in the am.). I would caution other bike tourists to check when the restaurants in town are open versus when you are arriving. None were open the night we stayed so we got dinner in Wittenberge before riding to Reuhstaedt. Oh, and the storks in town - how fun to see the nests with storks in them.

excellent stay

We stayed here during our Cuxhaven-Prague cycle tour, the hotel has a secure room for bicycles. The hotel is excellent, we really enjoyed our stay, the building and rooms have true character and are clean pleasant to stay in. Service is excellent, since we were cycling and the town had nothing to offer to eat, the hotel offered us a plate of cold cuts, cheese and bead for dinner.

The Perfect Place to Relax and Rejuvenate

Reviewed 19 june, 2016

We spent a long weekend relaxing and recharging at this former country estate. If you are looking for peace and solitude (2 hours from metro Berlin), this is the perfect oasis. We had a lovely room with all the modern amenities. The staff was friendly but non-intrusive. Breakfast was excellent. The restaurant was a stones through of the hotel. We loved the honors bar and quiet sauna. The tranquil and bucolic setting is the perfect pace to just kick back and relax.

Old fashioned comfort

Reviewed 24 july, 2014

This hotel is really good. Very good value. The rooms are excellent with high ceilings. It felt a bit like being on the set of Downton Abbey. Really spacious. The surroundings are beautiful. This is a great place to look at Storks, as most houses have a nest on their roof. And also a good place for watching the night sky, it is very dark at night. Very little light pollution. Breakfast was excellent, the staff were helpful even if their English skill was limited. The only downside to an otherwise wonderful stay was, that some misunderstanding led to us having to wait more than 90 minutes for a taxi in the morning of our departure. So I would recommend arriving by car.
