Faded Grandeur

Reviewed 10 february, 2020

Delightful chateau - perhaps a trifle dowdy, maybe a little run down but nevertheless perfectly acceptable. The bedrooms are good, the facilities and adequate and the breeakfast, which should be eaten on the terrace if weather permits, is excellent. The host are generous and accomodating and the small town of Saint-Cyr-sous-Dourdan is a few moments away by car. There you will find cafes, ancient ruins and a myriad of little shops to keep you entertained. Recommend the pizza restaurant which may seem a little abstract in France but the staff and the food are excellent. Sitting in the outside shelter on long trestle tables with the children running around is wondcerfully relaxing. And the pizzas were good as well.

Wonderful hidden gem with spectacular views and fantastic hosts

I had no expectations when i booked this as i only needed it as my cousin was getting married in the area. To our wonderful surprise, this place took our breath away. What a fantastic building and wonderful landscape. This property is exactly as you'd imagine an old French place to be. The young couple running it are just the most wonderful hosts too! So kind, friendly, knowledgeable and extremely welcoming. I don't know when, but i will be sure to come back! I regret that I hadnt book to stay long enough! You need at least a full afternoon to take in the beauty of the grounds and really embrace the grandeur of this property.

The Ultimate Romantic (or any kind of) Stay, just outside of Paris <3

Our stay at Le Logis d'Arniére was one of the highlights of our trip to France. We stayed in the lovely Lilac suite on the 2nd floor. The large rooms are lush, gorgeous, and comfortable. With in-laid parquet floors and the most stunning shade of lilac fabric covering the walls, the vibrant color reaches all the way to a vaulted ceiling, trimmed by delicate, antique, wooden strips, and intricate painting, making it fun to look up. :) The Queen-sized bed was wrapped in soft, white, high-thread-count cotton, and pale lavender satin ribbon. There is an unusually handsome, rounded fireplace in the corner, complete with candelabra and metal art on the mantle. This room invites you to sink into it, and we did. Watching the sun slowly come up in this exquisite setting, the French countryside, complete with horses in distant, super-green pastures, was just stunning, and a bit surreal. The morning was brought to a new level when we went down the grand staircase and were greeted by sweet smells, and a beautiful omelet breakfast made with Comté cheese, mushrooms and thyme, created to perfection. Hot coffee and juices were offered, along with bread & jams. This hotel is truly rare, a one of a kind, like a movie set. (We were told it's actually been used as a setting for movies & TV.) The family there are both sweet & very cool. An experience here will never be forgotten.

Rustic Relaxing Stay in a Beautiful Bulding in the French Countryside

We booked Le Logis d'Arniere for a wedding nearby. We could not have been more pleased with our stay and the owners, the building, the gorgeous surroundings. The owners could not have been more friendly, accomodating, and helpful (their pets too). The building is charming, full of character, and the grounds well kept - there are even horses in the lot next to theirs to complete the picture perfect surroundings. It was peaceful - we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. I agree with other reviewers - if you want a sterile, modern sparkling hotel, this is not for you - think of it more as a charming bed and breakfast...

Step back in time to France as it used to be.

Amazing chambre d'hote, the like of which you won't find again in a hurry. If you want a sterile perfect modern hotel this is not for you. If you want old world French charm, this place has it in buckets. Where to start? The house is amazing dating back four centuries in parts and to the twenties in others. It is in a lovely setting with huge gardens, trees and rustic out buildings. The house has very interesting old-fashioned but characterful furniture from all eras. Apparently it has been used for film-sets and TV series. The host and his family are very welcoming and chatty. We were offered drinks on arrival and given advice about avoiding the famous Bison Fute, otherwise known as the massive traffic jam of the first weekend in August. We had a very large room with bathroom and shower room adjoining a twin bedded room for our teenagers. Again the rooms were full of character with seemingly original bathroom fittings from long past. This wouldn't suit everybody, but we loved the style and originality of the place. I am sure it has been used in home decorating magazines and if it hasn't yet, it soon will be!
