Brilliant all round

Loved everything about this hotel. The food in the onsite restaurant was excellent every time and with great service, as was the breakfast buffet. The location is brilliant right next to the slopes and nearby shops/restaurants. All staff were extremely friendly, I would like to give a special mention and thanks to Darya on reception who went to great efforts to help me with a surprise for my partner to decorate our room, she really made such an effort thanks so much! Would definitely stay here again.
Looks Like 4 Star. Feels Like 3 Star

A case of style over substance. Looks like 4* Feels 3* The hotel is under lit throughout with dark rooms, bar and foyer area. The bar area is like a mausoleum with no atmosphere and chairs that look great but are, for the most part, hugely uncomfortable. The restaurant has 'functional' decor, not at the level you'd expect of a 4* hotel and feels more like a canteen in the main restaurant. The menu is the same every night (except for specials and even these are repeated), which would be ok if the food was really good but unfortunately it is only 'adequate'. For instance, squirting cream on some sliced bananas does not make Banoffee pie.
The hotel is really noisy if you happen to be staying in a room at the front facing part. This is due to a constant stream of drunk individuals shouting and singing as they fall out of the pubs and walk past the hotel,in the early hours, followed by heavy, noisy snow clearing vehicles constantly scraping snow off the roads and, just to top it off, if you're unfortunate enough to be over service areas as we have been, you will hear staff arriving, banging on doors to be let in the kitchen below us and then banging and clattering about underneath us.
The hotel does have a nice looking pool but it is too cold. We also got a bit fed up with unaccompanied children using the pool and steam room daily and messing about and generally taking it over, so we have largely stopped using it.
There is wifi but it is very poor and keeps going in and out.
On the positive side, we had a couple of issues in our room and a member of staff arrived to sort it promptly and was really great. Generally the staff are lovely and very helpful. The location is really good, more so for getting out in the morning than getting back. I really want to like this hotel but unfortunately it feels like a typical 'investor' hotel more concerned with saving money over the customer experience. Real shame as it could be so great.

Absolutely the best location in the village. Ski in/out and easy waking to restaurants and shops. Pool and saunas were excellent. I did not find them overly crowded but I fo wish it was open later than 8 pm. Lobby bar was excellent laid back apres location. While I agree the hotel was expensive it was indeed cheaper than all other hotel options. Biggest complaint was indeed the dark lighting throughout the hotel, hallways and rooms

- Location is fantastic - ski in / ski out
- Pool area is nice (but crowded and with no age restriction)
- Mountain view is great
- Small, dark, worn and smelly rooms
- Staff is inexperienced and uninterested
- Restaurant is an absolute joke for a 4* hotel: Evening food is significantly and disappointingly sub-par with some courses even under-cooked. Breakfast completely over crowded and often runs empty due to understaffing (AVOID HALF BOARD AT ANY COST)
- Bar is VERY expensive (e.g. simple espresso-based coffee is 6€)
- Bar snacks virtually inedible (e.g. french fries raw in the center)
(Also: Co-located ski shop also overpriced and with staff with poor attitude towards customers)
Definitely returning to Val T, but definitely not to this hotel.
Nice location, average comfort

we just returned from Val Thorens where we spent 5 nights at VOT. Unfortunately the weather was bad so we had to spend 3 days confined in the hotel and I was able to observe the place much more than I would usually do when on a ski trip. There are several issue with this place. The mattresses are extremely hard and it was very difficult to fall asleep especially in combination with very low humidity. They didn't have humidifiers available that made things worse. The sizes of toilet and bathroom are just ridiculous, the toilet is about 1 square meter and I have no idea how someone above 6ft can use it. There was a balcony in our room which is useless in winter time and I would rather them allocate this space differently. Breakfast was a standard one for the Alpine hotels with a very limited choice of healthy products like hot cereals or fresh vegetables. I am really getting sick and tired of cured meats and local cheeses after a day or two. The architecture of this place is kind of strange, there is an atrium in the middle and the rooms are allocated on the perimeter of every floor, so you can hear every door knock or bump especially at night. And every floor has at least 2 up and down steps. Kind of strange. The ski locker is very very small and the lockers can't hold more than one pair of skis/boots. We had a room for 3 people but our locker could only accommodate one set so we had to keep the rest in our room.
Now the good stuff. Hotel staff were very helpful and willing to assist in any way possible. We appreciate the front desk attendants and restaurant staff. The rooms and premises in general were very clean. There is a nice pool and couple of saunas on the ground floor that were very handy after the day on the slopes. And of course the location of the place it simply terrific, you're in the center of the village and you're one easy ride away from the lifts.
When the weather is good all the deficiencies are kind of fading away, however when you are spending more time inside the hotel they become evident.
