we loved our stay!
it' was already late when we came to check-in because we came from another hotel wer're we didn't want to stay for our honeymoon because there was a student party. But we got a nice welcome here! We got some good tips where we could eat and the staff is top!
Nice environment, but a fake 4* hotel
We just spent 3 nights as a family break with our 2 kids. I have been in the Île de Re every summer for the past 20 years (in different complexes) and can honestly say that this is not up to the standards and rate of a 4* hotel. The + are clearly the environment and the staff that have been very helpful and welcoming. The - ... don’t be tempted to move something in the rooms, full of dust, hair, food... in the hidden places. Watch out, anything that can be chargeable on top of your bill will be : parking space, baby kit, 16 euros for a single breakfast ?! Super standard decoration for the beauty and Retais style that they could have offered.
A favourite to return to
Another beautiful stay - we have been visiting for years and look forward to the peaceful relaxation at the end of our drive. The rooms are immaculate, the views over the vines glorious and the walk to the rugged coast a must.
A week in the vinyards
A wonderful spot near a small village on Île de Re. The pristine atmosphere the sea with tides running kingfishers diving, swallows soaring. Refreshing pool surrounded by various nearly tropical flowers. Comfortable rooms made up nicely everyday and a tiny kitchenette. The hotel makes plates to take out and microwave like pasta and plates of charcuterie and cheese&Local wines. Getting to the daily market is an easy walk, but car less presents a problem in the irregular service of the local navette. The same with dining in other nearby villages, The navette May be hours late or not come at all. Taxi service must be reserved in advance with the same problems. This is not the hotel’s issue to solve, but it does affect the holiday. I wish they had a restaurant. I’m not a good biker. The staff is terrific!
Relaxing few days in July on L'Ile de Re
Great place to relax by the lovely pool area, overlooking vines. Not far from the sea and easy to cycle to the two squares in the village with cafes and restaurants. Staff were friendly and helpful. We had a garden lodge with nice wooden terrace. Bikes can be hired from the hotel and are very useful, as is the hourly electric bus round the village.
