I love this place. Been here twice, stayed in the villa and most recently the apartments. I love samana, a less touristy part of DR, and this hotel is very peaceful, tranquil atmosphere, with really great service. The staff was really friendly and always helpful. Overall it’s just a beautiful place and I’d come back in a heartbeat.
I've been here 3 times and plan on continuing to stay here while in Samana!

I have visited the Bannister Hotel in 2018, 2019 and 2021. Each and every time we are greeted with so much kindness and attentiveness from the staff. My family have enjoyed ourselves each time. The views from the hotel grounds are beautiful! The hotel has a mini market on site which has your basic needs and very helpful. The staff is always so kind. Carlos and Yessica are EXCEPTIONAL! Incredibly attentive and such sweethearts! Carlos remembered my husband and I from previous stays and it was so kind to be treated with such hospitality! Nuilka was also very helpful in confirming reservations. Again, this has been my 3rd stay at the Bannister Hotel. I have nothing but wonderful experiences and will surely be back once again!

The Bannister Hotel sits peacefully in a secluded, gated, and guarded cove in a private marina on Samana Bay. From the moment you arrive you’re greeted with professionalism and courtesy, and have entered a world of true five-star service. The modern lobby is elegant and beautiful, stark white backgrounds accented with natural materials, opening to an expansive view of the harbor.
The spacious suites show this is an older property, and that is definitely part of its charm. This is the type of place that families visit, and return to year after year through generations, whether by yacht, sailboat, or car. The Bannister reminds me of the great hotels I was lucky enough to visit as a child with my parents in the 1960s, when people REALLY knew the meaning of service.
We arrived during a quiet time of the year, and luxuriated in the near-empty surroundings. Every staff member we encountered was friendly, from the front desk to the waitress at the lovely Puerto Bahia Ocean Club.
The breakfasts were wonderful, and we had great meals at both Regatta and the Ocean Club.
If you’re visiting the Dominican Republic, you must make your way to Samana Province. On the way through Samana, we stopped at a great local place called Majara. It’s right on a corner at the busy traffic circle near the harbor.
The Bannister exceeded our expectations on every level. We’ve already made reservations to come back during whale-watching season, and hopefully before then.
Great view, poor service

The Bannister hotel has an outstanding view of the marina and the Samana Bay. Most rooms are ocean view. However, service at the hotel restaurants is poor. Visited the restaurants 6 times during my 2 night stay and there was always a problem. The severs would not take the order and make you wait for over half hour, the servers would bring you the wrong order, and most times the ticket would not reflect the order. The hotel needs to have someone with experience running both restaurants. It is a shame that a hotel with such view and location can’t handle basic services.
