It was OK. Budget stay.
Quick overnight stay on a road trip. Definitely budget stay. We had issues with our first room (furniture was sitting in the middle of the room, TV was disconnected) so the put us in the adjacent room. There was an empty Coke bottle on the floor. Lots of trash in the parking lot. Overall, it was OK. With a few missed opportunities, our rooms (we had two) were generally clean and we slept OK. For budget travelers, it's going to work just fine. Our two rooms did have fridges and microwaves, but the internet was not very fast.
Surprised and disappointed
We have stayed at LaQuinta Inns for years and trust them to be nice. Because this is a convention center we expected the best. We were surprised and disappointed to find it poorly cared for. Everything looked so tired. Traveling during the COVID virus we trusted them to clean well but immediately found stuff on closet door in our room and friends room. They were quick to correct that and the staff was pleasant and apologetic.
Affordable and Worth Your Money
The main issue that I had was when I called the front desk to get help on how to be able to select the correct input on the television for my DVD player, the lady was not knowledgeable, so we were not able to watch the DVD we had looked forward too. Another issue was no breakfast being offered (which is understandable, and not the hotel's fault). Other than that, our stay was good and can't complain about the price that was paid.
The room was fine and the rate fair, but my concern is about the breakfast room. While I was seated at a table and eating a quick breakfast I saw a child around age nine or so come in coughing on everything: spout of the milk pitcher, juice spigot, eggs on an uncovered tray, fruit, everything on the counters. The hotel should change from a pitcher of milk on the counter to small milk cartons in a small refrigerator with a glass front; kid cereals should be choices in bowls with lids that can be carried to a table with the milk carton. There were hardboiled eggs on a round tray on the counter coughed on--this lacked the clear plastic dome cover found at other La Quintas. Best if this was in a glass doored refrigerator as well. Don't know what to do about the tyke coughing on the orange juice machine spout--maybe placed a at a location that an adult is needed to access this. Other La Quintas we stayed at this week had all the above cleaner methods, and more. This hotel needs to improve conditions to avoid any unnecessary spread of germs, especially now.
Great room and nice breakfast
The room was very nice and clean. The bed and pillows were comfortable. I really enjoyed the waffle and bagel for breakfast. There was a good selection of things to eat. There is construction going on at the lobby area but it was not an inconvenience. However it does distract from the appearance of the motel. The building itself is an older motel but the interior is very nice for the price.
