Westin cozumel- a vacation we will never forget

Westin cozumel was amazing. We did a week stay, all inclusive. It was completely life changing, fun, an amazing getaway to end the year and set the tone for 2023.... so happy we decided to stay here!!


Amazing 22 Nights in Penthouse Suite, Great Staff and Overall a Great Experience

My wife and I stayed here for 22 nights during November/December 2022. The staff is really what makes this property great. Javier the General Manager hosted us and 12 other guests for a private dinner at the pool/beach area as a thank you for the guests with frequent Marriott stays. The hospitality staff at the pools and restaurants were also great. The other Javier (not the GM), Reyes, Marcos, Arcos, Juan and Alfonso all treated us exceptionally well during our stay. A few highlights: 1) Luxury robes were provided when we asked; 2) The adults only rooftop pool is a nice retreat if the main pool gets busy...the rooftop pool has a bar and an extended menu with staff there to serve you (thank you Reyes!); 3) The unlimited 600ml bottled water in our room was a nice touch...we always had 12 fresh bottles after our room was serviced; 4) Every room is oceanfront...the views from our Penthouse Suite were amazing; 5) The snorkeling right from the hotel beach was very good; 6) The hotel was very clean...clean rooms, clean lobby....the staff was always cleaning on an ongoing basis. 7) The hotel is a short cab ride to the Centro area of Cozumel...easy access to shopping, restaurants and the UltraMar Ferry if you want to go to Playa Del Carmen for the day....very convenient; 8) Wifi was very good throughout the property...worked well for business related use and streaming Netflix. Overall we thought this hotel was an amazing value based on what we paid for our trip. My feedback to the property owner is to continue investing into making this Westin better. A few things that would be nice: 1) The beach area could use some more sand (I am sure it is expensive to bring in more sand :) ); 2) I would like to see an expanded menu for the pool/snack bar area; 3) It would also be nice to eat in the lobby with a small bar menu available. These comments are for the hotel owner and are not directed at the great staff that provides exceptional service every day.


Staff was awesome especially Alex, Leo, Saul H. and Juan. Beach and view was great. Loved the all inclusive option.

Staff is great and friendly. Amenities at hotel are good. Beach and areas around hotel has a ton of fish, rays and starfish for easy snorkeling. Great experience. Alex, Leo and Saul were great. Fun activities. Convenient excursions booked from beach!!!!

Javier and staff were wonderful! They helped get adjoining rooms for two of our daughters and it made my week. The staff made sure I got van for our 8. This year the Westin seemed more alive and had more choices for dining.

I planned a trip to stay at this hotel for three nights with my boyfriend for a romantic getaway. We booked it on and prepaid for all three nights on the website. The hotel itself was beautiful and I loved the staff BUT the administration CHARGED OUR CREDIT CARD $150 for a NO SHOW because we checked in late. Let me start from the beginning... we were scheduled to land in Cozumel in the afternoon from Mexico City. Unfortunately our lunch time flight was canceled and we were placed on a much later one that arrived to Cozumel at 3am. You can imagine what a wreck we were upon arrival. During the day as we waited at the airport I called the hotel to let them know we would be checking in late. They told me no problem at all - someone will be here to greet you. When we arrived at 3AM the late night reception welcomed us and checked us in. He also notified us that their systems analyze any guests who arrive after 11pm and mark them as a no show. I reiterated that I had called to warn them and that we were there at the hotel with our bags. He said he understood but there was nothing he could do to change our status. I asked what financial implications this has and he said nothing because you prepaid for your room. I thanked him and went to our room. Upon checkout we received a bill showing that we had no outstanding charges and only had to pay a couple dollars in taxes. Everything was fine until a few days later my credit card gets charged for $154 from the hotel. I called them to ask what it was and they stated it was the NO SHOW cost. I explained to them the whole story and that I had already paid for the room and that I used the room. They refused to reimburse me and told me this is their policy. I have also reached out to but they say the hotel refuses to reimburse me this crazy additional fee for arriving late. I hope someone at Westin reads this review. As a customer excited to spend money at their properties, I feel like I was both punished and defrauded ...for what? because I arrived after 11pm? I understand making someone pay for a room even if they don't use it. But I paid for it, used it, and then had to pay for a NO SHOW. This makes me very sad. I've never written a review like this before but I thought people should know. Flights in Mexico get cancelled ALL the time and potential customers need to understand Westin's punishing policy. Which by the way, was written no where when i booked.
