Works good for an overnight stay

Hotel is steps from the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk, and there are many restaurants to choose from within walking distance. I recommentd the room with the whirlpool bath in it. GREAT! Rooms have microwaves, fridges & coffee makers. Store is right across the street for snack and things. Unfortunatley, walls are VERY thin here, so if you are looking for a place to get peace and quiet....this really is not it. Its great for a quick overnight stay if you dont want to drive home from a day at the beach.
Great location, but not what you'd expect from a Comfort Inn

First of all, you should know that it's a *motel* and not a hotel. That fact alone causes this property to lose a star in my book. Secondly, although the place is clean, it's obvious that the owner is putting the least amount of money into it as possible: The furniture is cheap and in poor condition. The ice machine literally will only fill two small ice buckets without running out of ice. There is no complimentary breakfast; blame it on Covid-19 (other hotels have found work-arounds for this). Parking is abysmally limited, but TBH that's not really their fault. On the upside, the location is terrific -- within easy walking distance of the boardwalk and numerous restaurants.
For the $200 my room cost me, I could have stayed somewhere much better.
Kumar is excellent!

Stayed a single night on our way up the coast. We arrived late and were warmly welcomed. Parked our car right outside of our room which was very helpful. The hotel itself is very close to the boardwalk area and just a short Uber ride to downtown. I noticed that the GM (I think) was also checking to see that all cars were properly locked, which I appreciated since we weren't familiar with the neighborhood.
The room itself served its purpose, big comfy bed and decent shower. Fridge and microwave were great for holding our leftovers.
The standout though was Kumar! In the frenzy that is checking out of a hotel, we left a brand new pair of shoes behind. We realized this hours after leaving. We called the hotel and Kumar checked the room. When they weren't in there, he checked with housekeeping and they had found them! Kudos for honest employees! We were able to send a box to the hotel to get them shipped back to us. This could have been a huge bummer on our vacation but Kumar was friendly and responsive and did what he said he was going to do (a rarity nowadays).
Wonderful!! The management is just spectacular

I am a resident of Santa Cruz and have had the pleasure of staying at the Comfort Inn by the boardwalk as we wait on our rental to be ready in a few weeks. I normally do not write reviews, but this place really deserves one. I am a strong believer in individuals that caretake and run motels/hotels being the reflection of the place itself. We have had nothing but the up most kindness and respect given from the manager here. He is always, and I mean ALWAYS available with a smile and fast service. He ensures the property is kept in great condition along with the rooms and exterior. The house keeping staff is friendly and does a phenomenal job cleaning every day. Weekends get busy here and the parking lot is small, but this manager will personally come out and direct you into a spot to ensure you fit. Not only that but he has been known to call us in our room at night and remind us to lock our car as theft is inevitable in life. These little touches are really rare and hard to find these days. The price is right, the beds are comfy, the rooms are super clean, the continental breakfast is way more than you would normally see around. We have stayed at expensive fancy SC hotels and this is hands down our cozy favorite place to visit. Please consider on your next trip here. Enjoy!!
All the best,

We stayed here "off-season" on a 3-day weekend trip to Santa Cruz. The hotel was affordable, in a good location and the staff were very friendly and accommodating. It's super close to the boardwalk - couple minutes walk- and about 1mi to downtown Santa Cruz. The room and continental breakfast were pretty standard and they also had a small pool. Would be a great spot in the summertime if you have kids and are visiting the boardwalk.
