Not what you expect from IHG

WOW - I am an IHG customer who travels a bit for work and have seen my share of hotel rooms. First time at this specific Candlewood, and won't be back. Incredibly dirty - not sure they have done anything other than change sheets and throw a couple of rolls of TP in the bathroom. And I paid up since I had the family with me ($180+ all in for 1 night, so it's not even a "get what you pay for" issue). Dirty floors, toothpast on bathroom walls by the sink, filthy kitchenette, dirty dishes - will stop there, you get the idea.

I visited Pooler and Savannah for the first time since 2019 due to the pandemic but felt safe being doubly vaccinated and armed with masks. The hotel is easy to find. Check-in was easy and uncomplicated. My room was on the third floor and was clean, pleasantly cool, and comfortable. Really liked the bed: nice and firm just as I like them. Staff was friendly and helpful. I liked it so well that I'm going to book for a couple of days stay in October before catching a flight to Texas. Oh yes, and that's another plus: the airport is just a short drive away. I'm sorry other people seemed to have bad experiences. Me, I didn't.
No trust in IHG brand hotels!

I had a confirmed reservation on Saturday March 20th booked through the official IHG site under my gold status IHG account at the Candlewood Suites Savannah Airport. Upon arriving at the hotel around 8:30pm the desk clerk said he had no room for my wife and me. Not what you want to hear after a very long day and drive. When we objected given the confirmation , he lied and said he called me. I told him and showed him there were no calls and no messages. He admitted that he lied. He just expected us to walk away. We insisted that he try to contact sister properties. I found Holiday Inn Express further north on I-95 in Hardeesville SC that reported rooms available. I asked him to call and to set us up with a room at the same rate. He called once and reported “no answer”. Then proceeded to ignore us. We left after 20 minutes and had to keep looking for a room at each exit as we proceeded north on I-95. Very frustrating and tiring experience that has totally eroded my trust in the IHG brand and properties.

I was overcharged to stay here. I payed almost twice what booking.com and Priceline sent me updates with after I checked in. Roaches on the door to entry. Only hotel on the strip with the pool not open. Terrible customer service. Hair in the shower. Bathroom not clean. Dirty dishes in dishwasher. I called IHG to complain. They told me the manager would call me at 3 pm. I called to follow up at 7:15 pm. In a less than professional tone and told me she was thereby herself and busy. Said she would contact me later. I literally feel like I was ripped off. I could've gotten WAY BETTER accomodations in Savannah for the amount I spent. Totally dissatisfied with this overall experience. Ruined the vacation
Stay someplace else!

This IHG hotel is failing its customers. It should not be permitted to call itself a Candlewood Suites. The place was very dirty. Door frames (see pictures) were filthy. Trash & earbuds from a previous guest left in the rooms (see pictures.) Despite booking a non-smoking room this room had obviously been smoked in. Smelled of smoke from the moment we stepped foot in room. See picture with plastic wrap over the fire alarm. This is a safety/fire violation!! TV was not working. Broken hair dryer is unacceptable. Shelf in bathroom fell off the wall. We specifically stayed at this extended stay hotel because of the “fully stocked” kitchen. With covid, we hoped to eat all of our meals inside the room. Not possible because we had ONE bowl and ONE chair. Please look at the pictures and see our fully stocked kitchen - ONE ladle. Thank God we packed our own spoons. Refrigerator never got cold in the 48 hours we stayed there. I don’t think the ice maker was working. No paper towels. No Kleenex. On Saturday evening we went down to the front desk to ask a question & the employee at the front desk said she could not hear us (because her music was playing so loudly.) Very disappointed this place is allowed to advertise itself as an IHG property as they are usually nice, but this place is a dump.
