When you arrive at 1692 Wasdale you are given a “Welcome to” information card that says “We are committed to making your stay perfect” Well Faith and her brilliant team did that for us We stayed here as a couple for two nights in the Cairn Suite. It was a lovely room. Large, high ceiling and well appointed, with a huge comfy bed and an amazing bathroom pod. The bathroom had a large and deep bath (big enough for two) an amazing walk in shower and a good sized basin. The room had a couple of armchairs. Plenty of storage and a useful lobby area with separate door. Overall we couldn’t fault the room There was also a great dining area and wonderful lounge with loads of comfortable seating The whole place is modern, clean, well furnished. It is obvious that a lot of time, money and thought went into creating this wonderful small and intimate boutique hotel Loads of parking and friendly Alpaca’s in the adjacent field. Well located for the west side of the Lake District and the Wainwrights around Wast Water. There is a welcome boot and coat room for gear on soggy days On one of the evenings we ate in the hotel. We had a wonderful three course meal each. Well cooked and presented. Good portions. Restaurant quality and really good value at £72. Sadly we couldn’t eat here on the second evening as they don’t do evening meals on Fridays and Sundays, but we found a good place in nearby Gosforth Each day there was also home-baked treats on offer - chocolate cake one day, lemon buns the other Breakfast was just as good. A huge selection. We certainly didn’t leave feeling hungry The hotel has a great, well stocked and very reasonably priced honesty bar. We had two beers and two gin and tonics and the cost was £16 We thought the food and drink was excellent. You certainly won’t be disappointed A special mention has to go to Faith and her wonderful team. Friendly, professional. Nothing was too much trouble for them. It was clear to us that enjoyed their work. Everyone was happy and kind and excelled at looking after their guests Overall it was perfect for us. We would absolutely recommend this hotel and we will definitely be back in the future Thank you for making our stay so special

Very smart, friendly, comfortable top quality place to stay

We stayed here for 4 nights in the Herdwick Suite. Everything about this very smart but friendly b & b was well organised and high quality - the owner/manager Faith, and the other staff we met, mainly Lauren and Luke, were friendly and helpful. Our first floor room had a comfortable bed and a window looking out on the resident alpacas and beyond to the sea and on a clear day the Isle of Man. The shower was one of those you never want to get out of! Breakfast was really good, a wide choice of fresh fruit salad, croissants and cereals including a delicious pre-prepared creamy Bircher muesli, which did not stop me having the full English or an omelette or avocado and poached egg on toast as well (and there were other offerings!) Dinner is not served every day but the two evenings we did eat there it was an excellent meal from a small range of options to be preordered. For other nights there are places in Gosforth (we had a meal at the popular Wild Olive Italian restaurant which was good). Alcoholic and soft drinks and mixers were available though an honesty bar which included a better than usual range of mini bottles of wine - useful for us as my husband doesn’t drink white wine and I love it! There’s a quiet pleasant lounge and every room has its own semi-private outdoor sitting area which sadly did not get used because there was a lot of rain (as one would expect in October in the Lake District!)

Almost perfect. Still a must visit though.

What can I say about this place. It’s absolutely gorgeous. Magnificent rooms, magnificent communal lounge area and one of the best B&B breakfasts we’ve ever had. We stayed in the Fell Suite with the stunning mezzanine bathroom. Lots of lovely touches with the very tasty shortbread biscuits in the room everyday. What would have made our stay absolutely perfect would be things like drinking water in the room and a more comfortable bed. It was way too hard, even after we requested a mattress topper. It really did make it hard to get a good night’s sleep. Even my other half, who didn’t have a bad back woke most mornings with a stiff back. I would also have expected them to offer an option of pillows for your stay. At the princely sum of nearly 180 pounds per night, I would have expected not to have to bring my own feather pillows for my back. But let me say this. The staff are brilliant just brilliant. special mention goes to Lauren the assistant manager who was an absolute star. Steve, the co-owner also gave us the most friendly warm welcome and actually got in trouble with his wife (the boss!) for talking to us too much ! :-) Would we stay again? Yes absolutely, as long as we can get a room with a softer bed!vWe’d probably bring the in-laws too.

Amazing, welcoming oasis in the western Lake District

We were looking for somewhere different to stay near Wasdale, and hit the target perfectly! A very warm welcome awaited on a damp afternoon. Fortunately we had also reserved an in-house evening meal that was delicious. After a very comfortable night’s sleep, we enjoyed a great breakfast that really set us up for the day. We shall be back!!

Stayed here for three nights with my mum as part of our 'Four in a Bed' tour. We stayed in the collie room. Great facilities, comfortable beds, huge fluffy towels and an amazing shower. Great selection at breakfast. We also had two evening meals which were delicious. Steve, faith and their staff were extremely helpful. Special mention to Luke who wore lovely aftershave. Thanks for a great visit.
