Good room with fantastic ocean view

Reviewed 12 november, 2022

Older hotel but room was clean, ocean view was spectacular. Fireplace had a really low fire - they should increase the gas a little for more heat and aesthetics! Handicapped parking available close to the elevator. Staff was fantastic. Would stay here anytime in the Seaside, Oregon area. Kitchenette was really nice.

Visit to Ocean Shores

Reviewed 26 october, 2022

The location gets a solid high score. The view of the ocean, sunset, evening sky and stars are amazing. The room itself is in need of major updates and renovations. It was mostly clean and had enough space for 3 adults for a one night visit. Front desk clerk was very friendly and accommodating. Had good suggestions for a late dinner pizza delivery. Love ocean shores.

Best location, worst accomodations

Reviewed 18 october, 2022

Our last visit here was about 30 years ago and it was an excellent and luxurious facility then, compared to other hotels in town. Unfortunately, it looks like they've done no maintenance or upgrades since then. The overall hotel is in a sad state of disrepair and the mattress in our room was worn out enough to probably be from 30 years ago. The hotel badly needs paint, most exterior metal surfaces are rusting, and what used to be their very nice restaurant is now a third party very casual restaurant. What a huge disappointment. Shilo should be ashamed of how they've let this once fantastic hotel deteriorate.

Best Seaside location

Hotel is right at the end of the strand on the beach. Easiest beach access and access to all shops and restaurants on the strand. View of turnaround. No better location. The lanais make it possible to have the beach experience while never leaving the hotel. Hotel itself is well worn and looks like it has been updated several times. It needs another update. The floors have settled over the years and there have been some curious changes to the bathrooms. It is clean, however, and staff is very nice. Full kitchens and fireplace add final touch.

crappy crappy crappy

The good: The room was almost clean. I thought it was clean until I took a shower. There was something brown stuck on the shower wall. It sort of blended in so I didn't notice it at first. A crusty dried bug? Something else? I don't know. I didn't touch it. The good: The staff was very friendly and helpful The good: the microwave and room fan worked perfectly. (I'm grasping here) The reality: room 407: I hope this is the crappiest room they have. I sure hope they don't have crappier. The curtains are from the 60's. Two chairs at a table, and one was mercilessly ripped (see photo). The other was almost worn through. The refrigerator's freezer compartment was solid ice. I think this is what keeps the refrigerator cold. Couldn't put anything in that small compartment if I wanted to. Then, overnight, my food in the refrigerator part froze. The bed was "well used" and sagging in the middle. In spite of this, I did sleep well. Half of the hallway lights don't work. Some rooms' windows are cracked. The colors of the decor are barf worthy. Doesn't look like they spend much money at all on maintenance. Next door hotel looked lovely from what I could see. But they are twice the price. I guess I got what I paid for.
