Be wary of booking here, very bad management!

Very disappointed with the Manager "Wicky".Tried to book online on Monday and had to email to make a reservation as the mobile phone number provided, wasn't switched on. I was frustrated waiting for an email response so on Wednesday, i googled and found a landline number and phoned. The person on the phone was very cheerful and helpful and booked the 1 family room and 2 regular rooms I required and an email confirmation was sent. A deposit was not required, nor requested, I offered a deposit but was refused. I became concerned when manager Wicky replied later that day to say that they had the rooms I wanted!!. I know they didn't because I had already booked the only family rooms that they had. I got a phone call on Thursday to say the rooms had gone up in price to almost double the original price and that a 50% deposit was required to hold the rooms. I told them I would have to speak to the others in my party before I did that and then I got an email cancelling the rooms. I feel the manager should have honoured the original price quoted but instead cancelled our booking, I believe out of greed, thinking they had 2 different people requesting the rooms. If they managed the hotel better they would know who was booking what! I find this unacceptable. PLEASE be aware of this hotel and even if you get the price confirmed, it doesn't mean anything and that the price might be changed when you turn up You have been warned!!!!!

Awful and sad decline

I regularly used this hotel for work and was never disappointed. Now huge decline no restraunt for evening meals no cooked breakfast. Times changed with no forewarning. Management have no clue and detached from reality. Will not ever use again

Booked this room months ago as was going to a friends wedding, stayed in room 7 very tired room, bathroom has mould all in the ceiling worse nights sleep I’ve had in a hotel, pictures online are not true representation of the hotel. Paid £67.50 with booking.com 10% discount for bed and breakfast the breakfast was toast, crumpets jam or butter and some old cheese slices and ham slices and a few dried cereals in the wall to dispense god knows how long they had been in the containers, rude staff told Me I had no booking when I arrived but was spelling name wrong, never stay again

Don’t waste your money!!

Awful - don’t waste your money. We booked through an agent, where the reviews must be reviewed & minimised as mine hasn’t shown up or the pics I included. We had 2 nights there for a wedding happening near by. Taking our bags to the room, we noticed fire doors propped open with fire extinguishers or wood blocks. Even our fire bedroom door didn’t shut unless pushed heavily. There were also no fire instructions visible in the room or elsewhere! The first night we got there later than hoped at 8pm, to find the restaurant was shut & we had to go out to find food. When we got back we found the bed was broken, the toilet roll holder was falling off the wall, the plug in the shower was dirty, there was a dirty spoon in a glass & no one was around to complain too. We had a terrible nights sleep, despite having attempted to sort the bed enough to sleep on. We went for breakfast the next morning, no one greeted us & another couple explained there was no breakfast options other than what we could see. My partner lifted a bowl to find it dusty from the various cereal tubes above & the coffee was anaemic (that was without milk). The ‘continental’ breakfast consisted of sweaty ham slices, sweaty cheese slices, bread or crumpets (that the toaster wouldn’t toast) & yogurt…which could be mouldy despite being sealed as we found out. When my partner mentioned the bowls to the staff member (receptionist/ concierge) he got back chat & then as the guy left he was still muttering under his breath, but not one apology. My partner then went to reception to complain about the room, to find the same guy who had been at breakfast. He was shown the video & photos & told us there were no other rooms available. There was no offer of compensation or an apology, but he did say he’d mention it to the manager. When we next saw him he told us that his manager said email the hotel address. We spent more money than we’d planned, due to eating breakfast out after our experience. I have emailed the manager but never received a response, when the booking agent has contacted them, the response is they don’t give refunds. However, they’re happy to take money for rooms that are not fit for purpose. The hotel is not safe & definitely not worth the costs.

Anniversary night away

Visited a few years ago was lovely food amazing and staff wonderful went for our anniversary last night was shocked how it was now . It’s like a migrant hostel now no food available bar terrible said they was cleaning the pipes which was crap ! Really have let the place go such a shame we didn’t stay found a lovely b&b in the end
