Nice Cottages - Poor Management

Appreciated the virtual separate building we had at the place. It was clean and in good repair, although the alarm clock didn't work and there were a many tiny ants on the night stand every day. The maid was nice, but the owner, especially his wife, were difficult to understand (w/ strong Indian accents) were difficult to understand. Also, his wife told us when we arrived that all their rooms were reserved for the next day and we had to be out by 11 a.m., but there were cancellations for the next day that we weren't told about, which would have enabled us to stay a 2nd day - as I'd asked about doing. We had packed everything up and put it all in our car and were about to leave when I saw the maid and told her we were going. She then told us that she had us down for staying a 2nd night! Of course, that was good news, but we were upset that we hadn't been told. When I finally (after several phone calls to their main number) got ahold of the owner's wife to confirm that we could, indeed, stay another night, she gave no good excuse for why we hadn't been told and never apologized. If she'd just told me when we checked in that there was a possibility of a cancelation, I would have checked in the morning to find out if we had to get out. The owners need to find a better way to communicate with their customers, or they will lose them.

We recently booked a weekend stay here. The cottages were very clean and roomy. It is on a busier road, but set off far enough that it was quiet and peaceful. Staff was friendly and helpful! Cute sitting area on your porch of each cottage. Well maintained and clean grounds. Close to everything, lots of places to eat and shop.
Beautiful quiet location close to all Amish attractions!

Great experience. Cottage was comfortable and clean. Had a mini fridge and microwave. Located in a very quiet secluded area. Beautiful landscaping and flowers. There were only a few minor things that keep this from 5 stars.
1. There was no hand soap? They provide shampoo, conditioner and lotion. I’ve never stayed at a hotel that didn’t have bars of soap?
2. The shower head is SUPER low. I’m only 5’6” and I had to bend down to rinse my hair.
3. Cell service can be spotty and they are doing checkin over the phone. I lost the call once and when I got connected again I still had trouble understanding. Once I got the code for the keys, all was fine.
Only 5 minutes from Amish tours and food, and 10 minutes from sight & sound.
Overall good experience and would stay there again!
Awful customer service - broken AC

If you want your vacation ruined, this is the place to chose. You can pick from the worst customer service, poorest management, not working equipment in the rooms, and simple avoidance when you want your issues resolved. I called the office early when I was still at work to ensure I get the lockbox code so I could properly checkin on time and I was told not to worry and call when I get to the cottage. Around 8pm I received a call from the Spruce Lance office asking when we were expected to arrive and was told that I was supposed to notify them if I was arriving late. I told them I called at 2pm and no one informed me about this. When we got to cottages, I started calling the office number and no one was picking up the phone. Imaging being outside at 9pm expecting to get into a room but having no key and no information how to get in. After 15 minutes of non-stop dialing, someone picked up the phone and provided me with a lockbox information, not sure why it was impossible to give that an hour ago when they called to ask when I was arriving. We got into the room; the AC wasn’t working, but that night wasn’t hot and we had no other options. Next morning, I called the office at 10am and asked to AC, explain that it wasn’t working since the time we got to the room. I was informed I didn’t need to stay in the room and someone will come and get it fixed. 3.30 - we came back - beds are made up, but AC is in the same condition. I called the office again and that’s when the worst customer service began. “I will send someone right now”, “I will call in 5 minutes”, “We will give you another room”. 5 minutes were 30 minutes. That someone came after 2.5 hours and didn’t do anything. Another room that was offered had only one queen size bed - for 2 adults and two kids that’s not even an option, but apparently that lady on the phone said we should try to fit there. That room was offered after my husband already have been arguing with her for 2 hours with the kids screaming in the background and that was the best solution the management could provide.
We had to go book a room in another hotel because they didn’t even want to give us a refund.
So yes, if you want a wonderful experience, this is the place.

I have to say that this place was very nice and felt very homey and not stuffy like a regular hotel room would feel like. Perfect location. I would suggest to spread out guests and not book two cottages together if the rest of the cottages are empty. The people next to us kept me awake because they were up all night and very loud. After hours check in was a little confusing, but otherwise I highly recommend.
