I won't kid you, everything about this property needs a little refreshing. Carpets, floors, furniture, etc. But, you are not paying for the Waldorf Astoria. The beds were clean, everything worked and the staff was FANTASTIC. The entire experience was worth much more than the price of the room. We were treated like kings with our overnight front desk agent doing everything in her power to make us more comfortable well into the night as we gathered on the front porch to visit. Very rare to find this kind of service and friendliness. I would certainly stay here again.

excellent hotel for the price

Reviewed 27 march, 2022

we found this hotel as a last minute midway stop on our trip. very kind staff, clean room, great price. we were pleased with how easy it was to reserve and check in late at night. location was hard to find due to navigator not finding it, but staff was super helpful when we called for directions.

Less than a 1 star visit

My 82-yr-old grandmother, who's on oxygen and in wheelchair, my 22-yr-old cousin (also in a wheelchair), my aunt, and I came to Somerset to visit my mother who is deathly sick. I was willing to overlook a few "cosmetic" issues and the fact that the light into the driveway of the hotel was not lit and we missed it several times simply because Amanda, the front desk clerk was AMAZING and the girl who helped me book the rooms the week earlier did everything she could to accommodate our changing party size. However, there was no shower curtain when we arrived. When I inquired about from one of the housekeepers, her response was, “I don’t know where to find one.” There were also burned out lights, a dirty light cover, no light cover on the bedroom light, stained furniture/carpet, there was mold and hair on the bathroom floor, the thermostat was held on by duct tape, and the sink in the bar backed up. Again, we were willing to overlook these things because we really just needed a place to sleep. The first night I didn't sleep very well but assumed it was due to a new environment. When I woke up, I had welts all over my wrists and arms. Again, I assumed I was bitten by a mosquito or something. Last night, I was laying bed and a bedbug was crawling on me. I freaked. I didn't know what it was. I didn't even know what a bedbug looked like until I Googled it. I took it down to Amanda at the front desk. She was more than apologetic and appalled. She immediately said she would get our rooms comped and would try to put us into a different room. We went to a different room, the only room available, to look at it and the white bedspread had black dirt all over it. She was so embarrassed. I asked to speak with a manager (Gary). She had to "wake him up" as he was sleeping in one of the rooms. When he came down, he refused at first to talk to me and my aunt because his "hair was a mess." I told him I didn't care and that I would like to talk to him. He told us, they would give our money back and put us in a different room. When I tried to explain that Amanda tried to do that, but it was dirty, his response was, "you can take it or you can leave." Seriously?! It was 9 PM and I had two people in wheelchairs with me. We ended up having to pack up and leave. Makesha, another front desk clerk and bookkeeper, and Amanda were great and felt so bad for us. Gary, the manager, was a jerk. We were told that by the time we got home we'd have an email confirming that the charges on our credit card were reversed. It's now 17 hours from when we left and still no email. Furthermore, on the elevator door, there is a sign that says, "Fresh New Look, Same Brand You Love." Really? Nothing fresh about this place! To drive 12 hours home through the night substantially added to our physical and emotional exhaustion after visiting my mother for the last time. The overall experience was nothing short of catastrophe since we were already dealing with the impeding death of my mother. This was the very last thing my grandmother needed after seeing her daughter.

Overbooked by 10 Couples

Reviewed 17 august, 2021

April of 2021, we reserved 4 nights at this hotel so we could visit my dying mother. Two days before our trip, my husband received an email verifying our reservations. After driving 12 hours from our home in Illinois, we arrived at the hotel around 5 p.m., only to be told we had no room at the inn. The guy at the desk showed my husband 10 names of those who were turned away because of their overbooking. So we called hotels in Somerset, everthing was booked, called Monticello, everthing booked. So we called London Country Inn and Suites and they had one room left which was at least a king suite so we took it. There were already 4 families before us who had to go to London as well, and who knows what the other 5 families had to do. It was about $275 more for 4 nights than we had budgeted for our trip. Also, we had to drive an hour every morning to see my mom and an hour in the evening back to the hotel, so more gas money spent. My concern is this hotel never gave thought to those of us who had driven many miles to get there, plus the emotional status of having to drive for possibly same reason as us. This overbooking we were told had happened the previous weekend. This was totally unacceptable behavior of a business in hospitality. This is not the Southern hospitality Kentucky or Country Inn and Suites are known for.

Needs Help!

Reviewed 24 july, 2021

Have stayed here for years now. Each year it seems a little worse. Hallway smells of smoke! Room looks dirty. Carpet stained. Bathroom light doesn’t work. Shelves missing off the wall. Floor doesn’t even looked vacuumed. Curtained stained. Window broken.
