Not a good stay
Attached to a water park close to a couple restaurants. Our room had a full refrigerator, sink, dishwasher, microwave and coffee maker. They will bring you an induction burner on request. The front desk staff at check in was ok but rushed. Hotel has 2 coin washers and dryers and they sell detergent at the front The toilet was very slow, we called several times to have it fixed or move rooms, we were told someone would come to fix it and there were no other rooms, no one ever came to fix it. Parking was free, they are doing construction next door so you have to drive a small portion of dirt road to get to the hotel. They offered grab and go breakfast for free in the morning. About 40 miles from Mount Rushmore. No one at the front desks wore masks at check in and there was no partition at the front desk, the housekeepers did not wear masks. The lack of mask and any kind of partition did concern me. I would think a corporation as big as Hilton would strive to protect their employees as well as guest, especially in an industry where they are exposed to people who come in from many different areas. There was hand sanitizer at the front desk. At check out the staff was very rude She gave me someone else’s bill when I pointed out it was not my name she became indignant grabbing the bill from me saying I had no business looking at it. Not our best Hilton experience.
Nice but a few COVID-19 issues not handled well
We stayed the nights of May 28 and 29, 2020. I was impressed with the layout of the location. We did not go to WaTiki on this visit. I wasn’t that impressed on the lack of social distancing. There were crowds of people clamped in the lobby. The only amenities that weren’t available during our stay was daily housekeeping and Inspired Table Breakfast Buffet. They gave grab and go breakfast. The grab and go breakfast was a HUGE disappointment. It only contained a granola bar, apple, and GoGurt. That is snack time. NOT BREAKFAST. Just stuffing 3 small items into a brown paper bag doesn’t seem like you’re putting any effort into a backup breakfast. I do give them credit for location and staff friendliness. They do need to fix the first floor elevator button. It is falling off. Maybe just a tightening of the screw would fix it. Bottom line: Great but could provide more effort.
Spent three nights here while vacationing in the Black Hills. Clean, fashionable, comfortable rooms. Staff could have been friendlier, but weren’t rude. No breakfast because of COVID (which was a bummer) but they substituted brown bag breakfasts. Fifteen minutes from downtown Rapid City, half an hour from Custer St. Park, 45-minutes from Mount Rushmore and Wall Drug. Only complaint is that we requested a handicap room because of a recent surgery. We weren’t given one, but they did provide a shower chair. Be warned: the adjoining water park is NOT included.
Excellent hotel in a great location with restaurants, stuff to do nearby. Service was excellent. Only difference among this Home 2 and others today was a pre packed breakfast like Hampton vs open breakfast due to COVID rooms well kept parking safe (can get full) but new area with construction going on for more new stuff. We really enjoyed our stay.
Excellent Option for the Rapid City Area
This is a newer property with clean spacious rooms. The rooms are equipped with everything you need for a short or long stay. The location is perfect for nearly all of the Rapid City area attractions. There are numerous places to eat and shop nearby as well. One note: There is an attached waterpark shared with the other hotels in the area. It is quite nice and our kids were excited to use it. It is an additional cost of $17. They also close it for a variety of reasons. On our visit they closed due to lightning.
