Motel 6---Surprisingly better than expected

It was like a scene from the commercial..."Help! I Have a flat tiiiiirrrrre!" For 30 miles we hobbled along just trying to make it to the 24 hour shop arriving at 1 AM only to be told that the tire was not repairable and a tow wasn't available until morning. Our ONLY option, Motel 6. Check in was fast and easy...and only $60 for the three of us...our expectations we incredibly low, apprehension was incredibly high at this price point. When we arrived at our room, Room 111, it was white glove clean. Not a spec on the floor, beds made with clean sheets and bedding, and the surfaces of the room must have been freshly dusted. Nope, we did not sleep on Temperpedic ultra loft adjustable bed, but it was sufficient for a one night stay. And yes, there were the usual 240 grit towels that you'd expect, but they were bright white and clean. You will need to bring your own shampoo and there is no hair dryer, unless you turn up the window heating unit and bend over (yes, I did that!), but for the price, in the middle of no where, with few other options available, you really can't go wrong. On a side note, there is nothing to eat anywhere near this location other than a quickie mart/gas station, so come on a full belly or be prepared to eat craptastic, pre-packaged offerings from the gas station.
Not a good value

Mattresses weren’t comfortable, & room was in need of repair, cracked walls, tub surround patched. Room surfaces appeared to be cleaned though, linoleum floors which in my opinion are easier to clean. For $60 I guess you can’t expect much but..never again
Pleasantly Surprized :-)

Nothing fancy but entirely adequate. For literally the middle of nowhere, it was better than expected. I had even debated driving back to Arkansas City but opted to stay after checking things out. Dean at the front desk was cheerful, helpful & welcoming and seemed genuinely appreciative of our business. Room #103 was a single w/fridge & flat screen TV. Lots of channels to choose from and, more importantly to me, enough wifi to check weather & routing for the rest of my trip. It wasn't "white glove" clean but my bedding was OK (I always pull the bedspreads off) and the towels were typical M6 (ie thin & rather of the exfoliant variety) but again, clean and bright white. Microwave down the hall in the lobby area. Both exterior and interior doors made it easy to load luggage from the truck and convenient to trot down the hall to use the microwave. The price was right and I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again but ask to see your room first if you have any doubts.
Bugs, stained sheets, and Peeping Tom

I was hopeful when I read that the Motel 6 at the South Haven exit had been re-modeled, but I was disappointed with service. Shortly after checking in, I noticed a black bug on the bed. After pulling the bedspread back, I notice some weird stains on the sheets and a hair. I asked the front desk to change the sheets and mentioned the bug on the bed. When I returned back to the room, after several hours, the bed had been re-made, but I noticed that it had the same sheet, and it had been turned around. I guess they were hoping that I hadn't noticed. There was also a large hole in the shower that I had plugged with a wash cloth and when I returned, the ceiling tile in the bathroom had been moved. It appeared that someone may have been trying to peep into shower.
In addition, the sink didn't drain and there was no way to lift the stopper. The management had to use a screwdriver.
Yes, the room was cheap, but obviously, there was a reason for that. Don't stay here, especially if you have women with you. There's something weird going on here.
