Saida 1 room 205 Condo was an absolute disgusting mess!
Reviewed 11 August, 2021
We rented a condo in South Padre Island (Saida 1 room 205) from a VRBO "premier host" back in March and when we arrived the condo was a filthy mess. I swept the whole floor that was full of sand and dog hair. We then discovered a horrible smell that came from the living room area rug that smelled like wet dog and full of sand underneath. We rolled the rug up and put it in the utility closet. The curtains had stuff all over them and we found tissue in one of the pillow cases. The beds did not have fitted sheets so they kept moving and then we were laying on just the mattress pad that was nasty. The 2nd night we were there we washed all the sheets and pillow cases because their was hair all over them. Behind the bed looked like furry animals growing on the trim and wall. All of the cupboards were nasty with a greasy film on them. Part of the stove did not work and neither did the garbage disposal. The second day we were there, I messaged the owner and informed him how bad the condo was and sent him pictures. He stated he would refund me the cleaning fee of $100 and I informed him that was not good enough. He then agreed on refunding me $400.00 as long as I did not post any pictures or comments, He told me he would mail me a check and when I got home I checked the mail for several weeks and no check. I messaged him several times and he insisted he sent it. I asked him to re send the check and he would not do that with the other check still out there. I told him to do a stop payment on the other check and to re issue a new one and he would not reply back to me. I informed him I was going to post comments and pictures to many online review forums and still has not replied back to me. I called VRBO and they were of absolute no help either!
Not Enforcing COVID-19 Restrictions

The condo we rented for a few days was nice, although it could’ve been a little cleaner.
Unfortunately, anytime we ventured out of the condo, including the elevator, people were refusing to wear masks. It’s like, “I’m on vacation, so the pandemic can’t get me!”
The resort did nothing to provide any enforcement, the security guards were seen wearing their masks incorrectly, or hanging by his ear.
So, bottom line, Saida doesn’t care about you.
We’ve been coming to SPI for 30 years. Never again.
Nice beach, average property

We started in Saida IV room 901and the facility is very outdated. The whole tower was without water and stayed that way for a couple of days. We were moved that first night to Saida I room 401 and then to Saida I 404 the following day. 401 was the nicest room of the three by far. 404 was very average or below, especially for the price. Again, in need of updating especially the mattress. The beach saves this property. Very beautiful beach and easy access. There are chairs or umbrellas to rent if needed or you can bring your own. Just beware, a very large fine from the city if you set up your tent for shade before 9am. To sum it up, if you want a luxury room, do not stay here. If you are ok with average room and nice beach you should be fine.

Our unit had blinds missing in 3 of the 4 rooms with blinds, including the master, so sleeping in or taking naps was out of the question. It’s great having a full kitchen, but the poolside grill is, quite frankly, a joke. It doesn’t have a specific time it opens, I was told 12 or 12:30. And when I’m at the beach or by the pool (which opens well before the poolside grill opens) it would be nice to have a drink before this time. And the food was awful. The staff at the grill was great, however. Also, our room was supposed to accommodate 8 people, but there was a sign on the pull out couch that said it couldn’t be used. Luckily there were only 5 of us, but we were planning on using it. Other condos we have stayed in have had more of the basic supplies. The tennis courts are well kept, the pools are nice, and the beach is close. Most important issue I had was that the guardrail on the balcony is very unsafe for young children. We couldn’t enjoy any time on the balcony that faced the oven because our toddler could have easily slipped through the railing. Some units had chicken wire covering the rails, so they realize this is an issue, most did not. The rails outside the rooms by the elevators were the same. The washers and dryers are 2.50-2.75 each per load. So at least $5 total per load, not including the laundry detergent you need to provide for yourself. There are trash chutes on the floors which is convenient.
Great Location, Great Views, Beach Access

Our family of 7 stayed in unit #401 and the location was perfect. Very nice accommodations and awesome beach view.
Our only disappointment was that there was no washer or dryer inside of condo.
Would stay here again.
