Poor catering on site - overbooked activities

We’ve just stayed at this ‘resort’ and it’s struggling with a lack of staff and lifeguards. The cafe is often closed all day randomly and the very basic restaurant doesn’t open till 4. Getting a coffee or a pasty or take away pizza is impossible. All the facilities are fully booked with very limited numbers allowed on. The water sports centre doesn’t open till 11am so time slots are limited. Lifeguards are limited so they limit the numbers allowed on.
There was no welcome pack with instructions in. You need to carry bins and recycling up the hill to a central location a 10 min walk away.
Organised they are not but the price tag is hefty and suggests a resort with convenience- esp as the nearest town Padstow is so busy with no parking. It’s very difficult to eat anywhere or buy supplies. Very isolated with not enough staff.
Avoid this site! Terrible Managment and poor quality units. More like 1*.

Do not give your money to this company! Having read the reviews I was nervous about coming here. I guess I gambled and lost. We paid extra for a ‘superior’ lodge - I hate to think what a standard one is like. We could t get through the gate to our lodge as it is so warped and not maintained. That was the start of a disappointing lodge. Not clean by any means. Dirt under the tables and no idea what the stains on the wall were. The gas hob blew itself out but continued to pump gas into the room. Poor quality and a health and safety issue. Then the hot tub - broken, rusted and nearly impossible to lift the lid. Then it only worked intermittently. Their solution of someone coming every morning to lift the lid off and then every evening to put it back on would help - but no one turned up! Sadly all the comments about lack of ownership in management are spot on. No acknowledgement of the issue to start off with then they assured me everything was ok. It wasn’t!!!!
As you go into reception there is a sign saying that abuse of staff won’t be tolerated. Absolutely agree. But if you need a sign like that you know you have problems on site. Rather than ask customers to complain politely maybe you should fix the issues themselves. The site is crying out for some investment but instead they concentrate on taking your money, dealing with the inevitable complaints and selling the new units.
Bitterly disappointed and such a waste of money. Don’t come here if you want to enjoy your holiday.
Not bad, but not what it was and definitely not 5*

First visited the resort in 2017 and had a fabulous time - as such, recommended it to my family as a place to go for our 2021 stay-cation but unfortunately it did not quite meet any of our expectations. It would be unfair to do a direct comparison to our stay in 2017 as the pandemic will certainly not have helped some aspects - for example there were no activities for children running, no entertainment (during the day or in the evening) as there was when we stayed back in 2017, and use of the leisure facilities had to be booked in advance in specific slots - completely understandable (also may not be the case now restrictions have relaxed slightly more).
However, there were aspects of the stay that we were disappointed with that I don't think are related to the pandemic, and did impact on our stay. We voiced these concerns to the reception team who asked us to write it down to send to the manager - we didn't really want to do this whilst on holiday.
We booked a premium barn - this was more expensive than the type of lodge we stayed in in 2017, and on the pictures on the website looked like it was going to be really luxurious. I was really disappointed when we arrived at the lodge - the row of lodges all look like they need a bit of TLC from the front. The lodge itself was huge - and perfect for our big family, and all the rooms were ensuite which again, was a real advantage.
However, the kitchen facilities and cooking facilities were not adequate for the number of people staying in the lodge - the lodge sleeps 12, and there was 8 of us plus 2 babies. There were barely enough plates, dishes, glasses and mugs, only one oven, and not enough things to serve dinner on. Due to restrictions on eating out, we had to cook in the facilities - but they just weren't good enough. There wasn't even a cheese grater! In addition to "basic"items that were missing, there also wasn't anything that I would call luxurious - we'd taken champagne which we ended up drinking out of wine glasses (though there weren't enough of these).
The hot tub was lovely - but the outdoor space is completely different to that advertised on the website. The fence separating the lodge from the lake (about a 15 meter distance), wasn't straight, and in some areas almost completely blown down which wasn't safe with 2 infants around. The gate was very flimsy, and the outdoor furniture was very cheap and plastic - not the lovely rattan style furniture advertised on the website.
We had a pool table within the lodge - the cues were broken, and all but one were not fit to be used. The side of the pool table where you would normally insert your 50p was loose, and a slight touch and it completely fell out. Luckily, we only had a near miss with one of the babies crawling along the floor.
Whilst having an ensuite in every room was lovely - at least four of the 6 ensuites were malfunctioning in some way. 3 of them the doors kept falling off their runners in the shower, and in another the plug would not stay in the bath.
All in all, we had a lovely holiday, and the size of the lodges and in particular the living spaces, really made it, especially during the pandemic when most of our socialising was done in the lodge. But, we were disappointed with the state of the lodge itself and it would probably put us off booking Retallack again - they are expensive holidays and on this occasion I do not feel it was worth it. In 2017, I thought it was completely worth it.
Had a wonderful family fun week!

Had a wonderful family holiday at 205 the Glades! From arrival to departure we felt relaxed and well catered for!
A lovely 6 bedroom house with a fabulous open dinning kitchen, sitting room dinner .. with a fabulous large dining table with enough room to fit 12. Perfect for a party of 12 gathering and dining!
The location of the glades was perfect, we were not overlooked and you could sit out in the morning sun in your P.J’s with a cuppa without other properties looking on you.☺️.
All the staff were very friendly and helpful. We had a lovely meal on site. Had a ball on the flow-rider.. the staff on the flow rider were fabulous! Sensitive to each individual ability! We had a scream on the inflatable assault course and a lovely relaxing swim in the pool… perfect temperature of the pool too!
Would definitely go back!
