Unclean, poor service, bad signage. Avoid if you have mobility issues. Great views.

Stayed here in August to attend a family wedding, with a family member with reduced mobility.
Very difficult to find and access the hotel from the station. Poor signage around hotel and eventually accessed hotel via a function room which was being set up for a wedding.
Unable to access room for 4 hours after check in due to them giving it a thorough 'covid clean'.
On finally accessing the room, the bathroom had a layer of dust along the shelf, an old empty water bottle was shoved behind the wardrobe space.
Antiquated lift, which if a guest didn't correctly close both doors on exiting, the lift would not work. Resulting in my father being stranded on the 2nd floor multiple times in our 2 night stay. There was no bell installed on the lift floors to alert reception to a problem, so more than once my father had to resort to asking another guest to go and let reception know.
On the actual wedding day, it seemed very disorganised even though the wedding coordinator was there throughout. During the vows, guests could hear the kitchen staff giggling and laughing, even dropping cutlery. The wedding coordinator was there, but did not ask the kitchen to be quiet during the vows!!
The function room had great views but was very echoey.
The food was just okay, until the strawberry and lime mousse arrived, which looked and tasted awful. Not one guest finished it and I wonder if the chef actually tasted it before delivery to the tables.
The hotel advertises complimentary gin and port and a Nespresso machine.
The coffee machine was shoved in a corner with no instructions and nowhere near a plug socket.
The gin and port were not replenished on day 2. We paid the same price for both nights,so surely should receive the same benefits for both nights.
Our room was not cleaned and beds not made on day two. Someone had accessed our room as cushions were put back on bed, however the towels placed on the floor by the door were left there and not replaced, the beds were not made and the full bin was not emptied, until I had to complain to reception to get this rectified.
The spa access was limited to 45 minutes and guests had to arrive in swimsuits and return to room to shower after, I declined as didn't sound so relaxing after all.
All in all a very disappointing stay in a lovely part of the country.

Fantastic hotel with amazing views and access to a wonderful beach and amazing service from Hannah and the rest of the wedding team. We had an amazing weekend and the service was second to none, would highly recommend
Poor value for money

Be careful when booking this hotel, especially in peak summer. It’s not cheap and we had a room with no air conditioning and it was stuffy on a not very hot day ! The rooms on the back where the road is are noisy so opening the window ( which you need to) lets in the noise from main road into st ives. Breakfast manager is really nice but the food is cold and rubbery .. like it’s been sitting around. Overall for the price ( not cheap) it’s not good value
Would recommended the coastal walks which are not easy to find as starting points .. go down to the beach ( nearly) and past the restaurant there at the back .. small acorns hard to find to guide you
St ives is packed so book restaurants well in advance .. had fabulous meal at source kitchen and poethminster beach cafe .. go before sunset and watch the surfers
Beautiful hotel and hardworking friendly staff

We had a lovely weekend here for our three times postponed 30 anniversary stay. .We have stayed before so new what to expect. The staff were friendly and helpful although obviously very overstretched. A particular thank you to the restaurant team who managed to find us a table for our first night there. We didn’t think we would need to book so far ahead because we were staying in the hotel, so were surprised when the hotel initially couldn’t find us a table. But they managed to move things around for us. We had a lovely meal. We had a couple of small criticisms. Our room was beautiful with stunning views. However it was impossible to plug a hairdryer in near a mirror. So we ended up having to rearrange the room every morning. Also there was no where to hang clothes longer than a jacket without crumpling them. Small stuff but for a hotel of this quality an irritation. And finally the reason we have given four stars and not five. A single member of staff working in reception on the morning of Sunday 5 Sept. twice we had asked for newspapers and they hadn’t arrived, again nothing major. But when our fellow guests said their newspapers had arrived in their room, we checked with her again to be told abruptly that they hadn’t arrived yet. We asked her three times through the morning and each time she was quite off hand and unhelpful - just telling us that they hadn’t arrived yet and she made no effort to make any enquiries. She really is in the wrong job, in fact I’d be hard pushed to think what job would suit her, certainly not a customer facing role. But I don’t want to end on a low. We love this hotel. We have stayed a few times. A big thank you to the brilliant restaurant team who were obviously short staffed but always friendly and polite. We recommend it.

We booked afternoon tea for 5 on our girls holiday. We arrived at 4:30 and didn’t receive our drinks order until 5:10 so waited 40 minutes. We were never offered any menus and had to ask for these. The waiter came to take our order and advised that we could choose from the selection of ‘freshly’ made sandwiches. Our food came a little while later and the selection was all wrong, there was only two salmon sandwiches for a group of five of us and the egg sandwiches were just filled with cress. There wasn’t enough scones for all of us and the cake amount was all uneven and we did not get offered any tea to have with our afternoon tea!
I spoke to the manager and they bought us another selection of sandwiches. The manager took some money off the bill but as an experience for our holiday it was very disappointing for such a lovely venue.
