Clean and Tidy Hotel

Reviewed 29 november, 2022

Great hotel, friendly staff, nice size rooms not a lot of storage space rooms where clean , average Buffie food at Breakfast and Dinner, sometimes a bit cold. close to bus terminus, and local pubs and places to eat.

Back again.

Visit to the Santana again and we were not disappointed, staff friendly, room clean, breakfast good, but could have been a bit warmer ( minor point), we have stayed here numerous times and enjoy the Hotel and it’s location, central bus stop 2 min with good service, plenty of good restaurants around to choose from, we’ll be back.

Large impersonal hotel - disappointing

Reviewed 20 november, 2022

If you want an authentic experience of Malta do not go to this hotel. Staff, with a couple if exceptions, are in general indifferent. There is absolutely no real concern for the individual needs of guests. There is no lounge to speak of, just a reception area close to the bar which is noisy and rowdy in the evenings. There is no soundproofing, the doors are noisy, one can hear everything and the rooms have no character. If you like a huge impersonal dining room, a generic buffet with virtually no Maltese dishes, no choice for vegetarians or vegans, a noisy bar and echoing internal hotel atrium, whereby guests shout across to each other on balconies in the early hours, then it may be for you!

Disappointing

Reviewed 16 november, 2022

We arrived early afternoon. There was only one other couple on our bus from the airport so checking in was quick and easy. We were not to use the main two lifts near reception as there were more suitable lifts elsewhere. In fact there were several lifts around the hotel. We found that the furthest one from reception stopped right outside our room on the 6th floor. Our room was excellent as was the bathroom. Several extras were included. These were a safe, a fridge, a hairdryer and lots of bathroom cosmetics. The balcony was a reasonable size but overlooked a building site. We had three tall cranes to look at. Mind you, Malta seems to be a large building site. I have never seen so many cranes. The hotel has two pools. Even though it was November the roof one was still open. The downside was it was very cold and small. It was not long enough for proper swimming. The indoor pool in the basement was warmer but even smaller so that was no good for swimming either. The food choice was limited and variable in quality. Salads were at a premium in particular. The dining room was very well manned and your plate was whisked away as soon as had finished with it. The on-tap wines were typical of ones found in hotel dining rooms. As it was November, there was only one bar open. In the evening it was very crowded and as all drinks were waiter served it proved very difficult to obtain more than two drinks in an evening. It did seem that paying guests seemed to get better attention than all inclusive ones The quality of the drinks were poor. This was shown to be the case when we drank outside the hotel. There was entertainment most evenings. This was OK but was all very similar. One thing we noticed was that the TV in the bar was on continually and it was showing MTV. Considering the average age of the guests was 75+ this seemed a bit strange. The staff are quite friendly and for the most part helpful. The hotel is well positioned with the bus station only 5 minutes away and the sea a few minutes more. Malta has such a brilliant bus service. So cheap and so frequent. We went all inclusive but in retrospect this was a mistake. The few lunches we went to and the limited amount of drinks we were able to get nowhere near justified the extra cost from the extra paid for being all inclusive.

Coffee shop staff

Reviewed 6 november, 2022

Me and my partner visited the coffee shop here and the service was outstanding. Bartender from Wigan (think his name was Brendan) and the team working with him were under so much pressure but worked with such ease. As I've worked in the same industry my entire working life I noticed how much there was to keep up with. I must say the patients they had with extremely rude customers as I witnessed was phenomenal and I myself probably would have asked said guests to leave. Well done!!! Will definitely visit the hotel again.
