Wedding/Rehearsal Dinner

Reviewed 25 november, 2022

We can’t say enough about the weekend our family spent at the Lafayette Inn in early November 2022. Our whole family stayed at the Inn. We had a rehearsal dinner on Friday night that went seamlessly due to Alan’s staff. Alicia was a superb hostess and handled every part of the event. We had breakfast on Saturday morning, made to order which was delicious (tomato spinach feta omelet was a hit!). Sunday morning we had a wedding breakfast that was presented buffet style and was equally delicious (French toast was amazing). Thank you, Alan! You made our events and stay relaxing and delicious!

Excellent food and hospitality!

This is the best food we have had! The owners were so kind and hospitable. Wonderful views and quaint historic rooms with modern conveniences made this a very pleasant stay for this weekend. Also had our rehearsal dinner here. We highly recommend it!

Great Sunday brunch at the Lafayette Hotel

Reviewed 5 november, 2022

Didn't stay at the hotel. We were staying nearby, looking for someplace for Sunday brunch before returning to Northern Virginia, found good reviews for the Lafayette Hotel. It was affordable, friendly, food was good, nice atmosphere. If I'm in the area I would definitely stop here again

I would think this is what people are looking for in a boutique hotel in an historic building. Loved the room with two fabric covered arm chairs, the realistic wood (gas) fireplace, Keurig coffee machine, deep colors, one could easily cure up with a book on an inclement day or Staff is lean, not saying things don't get done, just need to listen carefully to how things are run, 9-10 for an excellent Americn breakfast and similarly dinner from 6-7:30 but need to reserve earlier in the week when it's not the "weekend." Dinner is $$$ or even $$$$ but worth it. It's sort of an awkward, nice but awkward location depending on activity, the Skyline Drive and Appalchian trail are just 8 miles up 33, but perhaps other features Charlottesville is known for are more of a day excursion in the area, eg, Monticello. A couple nice tidbits show an attention to detail, candy wafers and a small bottle of champagne on ice were in the room on arrival. I was solo, but the romantic appeal of the place is obvious. I was in the Monroe room, one word of caution is that the entrance is outdoors, eg, take stairs to second floor then walk outside on the veranda to the room. Also on one side the veranda slopes just a littlle bit. Enjoyed it though, better deal than chains in town.

Wonderful stay in small town VA

We came to the Lafayette Inn after attending a football game in nearby Harrisonburg. Arriving late in the evening, we were greeted by the owner. Being late, their kitchen was already closed down for the night and she recommended a local pizza place which was just ok. There are no other eateries in Stanardsville! The room was well appointed with antiques everywhere and lots of personal touches. The TV reception was lacking with only two channels coming in at all as there is no cable or satellite tv. No mind, we were tired and that didn't matter. The night was quiet and comfortable. We rose late and went to breakfast at 9 am and were delighted with both the service and quality of the food. Again, the owners were there serving guests. They are very nice innkeepers and I would highly recommend a look and a stay at Lafayette Inn.
