More about the hotel
Perfect for the money
We stayed here as a family of 4 (2 adults and 2 children of 7 & 5) for 11 nights and have to say the hotel is absolutely spot on. After reading some of the other reviews we were understandably a bit nervous however I can only think that people are expecting way too much for their money. We are English and in all honesty we were the minority but we are in Bulgaria, why should we expect the hotel to cater for just English!? Guests - Yes, some other guests were quite rude, pushing in at dinner, however you soon become accustomed to it and this is probably more of a problem for us, being known to have a 'wait in line' culture. Food - beautiful food, I must have tried everything on the menu and loved virtually all of it! The first batch of food is more tradition I would say so good for the non-fussy eaters but for the picky eaters, more 'generic' good gets served afterwards so something to cater for all. Entertainment - the entertainment team were amazing, my kids absolutely loved it. Music from 10am got everyone in the holiday mood and there were games throughout the day. I loved playing water polo and even made friends with another family despite not being able to speak a word of the same language. A lovely Polish family who we wish we'd have kept in contact with. Kids dances every night with some nights having external acts. Don't let the negative reviews put you off. This hotel is great for the price. We would definitely go back.
last minute holiday
I travelled with my husband and 11 year old son, we booked a last minute holiday and Bulgaria was the best deal going, we have never been before so thought wed give it a go. We arrived early hours of sat morning and was greeted by the lovely Alex on reception, had great chat with him especially about football :) , whenever we saw alex throughout our stay he would always greet us and ask how we were doing. Check in was quick and simple Hotel rooms are brilliant, (we had room 204) massive so load of space plus we had 2 separate rooms, big balcony, and bathroom had bath and separate shower! our room overlooked the two pool and shop, lovely view at night watching sunset also. Pool was great to, nice big size, we stayed at the main pool most days as that's where the animation team were, music games etc and closer to bar - but the other pool was only across the road and offered more quieter place to relax and pool was never busy there, so you had options. Now when we arrived as per previous trip advisor notes I saw, there were towels on every bed when we arrived and this was 2am! I was abit worried about not being able to get a bed, but the following day we managed to get some, from the sat night I think some people complained so the waitress every night if any towels were left late at nigh she would take them off fold them up and put on table - this was much better as was then fair on everyone to be able to get a bed. But we never had any trouble but we do like to get up early. we were up for about 645 every morning to go for breakfast as was quieter and relaxed then - breakfast was ok nice variety and my son always found something to eat he liked Lunch we only went couple times as me and my husband usually just have big breakfast then wait for tea, obviously my son went - sometimes not much choice so he would wait for the snacks which started around 3pm - they would have chips, nuggets, salad, etc. which my son enjoyed. tea was the hardest time for my son, some night there was something but some night there wasnt a they catered more continental - so as us adults would probably try my son was unsure so sometimes just had cakes and ice cream! We did go out for tea a few times because of this. Now the entertainment team were brilliant, Katya and pacha do an amazing job together, they work all through the day keeping kids and adults entertained, cocktail games, darts, waterpolo, etc and my favourite which I did everyday was water gymnastics - thk you katya loved it! I think the only thing that we thought could be different is the music - they seemed to play the same soundtrack everyday so by the end of the week youd know the words - so maybe just changing the music each day would be better :) Evening entertainment was hit and miss - so we did go to sunny beach a few nights - plus the all inclusive finished at 10pm which was a big dispointment to us! as most all inc stay on till midnight We are about 15walk to sunny beach which is the lively bit, lots of resturants, bars, shops - I couldn't believe how cheap it was also - great for your fake stuff to. drink were cheap - we found nice restaurant/karaoke bar which a lot of the English went to called the house - pound a pint! we brought two pints and a sprite for under a fiver! we also went to the aqua paradise water park - that was an amazing day out - plus you can get a free bus there and back also. 44 lev for the day which is about £22 for the whole day - cheap inside to for meal deals etc, we had a fantastic day - you get given a watch strap to wear which you take to kiosk and put whatever amount of money you want on it - then you just swipe it if you buy drink etc, any money you dont spend you get given back at the end of the day when you take it back to the kiosk to which I thought was brilliant! we would defo be coming back to Bulgaria but will prob stay more up the sunny beach strip - and will prob go bed and breakfast because of how cheap it is out there. Thank you to the palazzo though - we enjoyed our stay and the staff worked hard through the day keeping it clean etc especially the waiters/waitresses - there were a lot of other nationalitys there, german, Ukraine, Russian etc, some weren't friendly and never smiled or even said please and thank you - I would always acknowledge the staff and they loved that and when ever we saw them they would smile and say hello - one of the barmen - who started working there while we were there (had blond hair, and 18yrs old) - even said to me I know your English as you always say please and thank you! I said that's just how us british are - manners cost nothing! I didn't get his name but I hope its going well for you , and you were very poilte and hardworking. Thank you palazzo!! and all the lovely English families we met whilst there also - my son met some lovely friends to
Great value for money.
Great value for money. Rooms are big, very clean with air-conditioning. Food is very delicious (not recommended for people on a diet :p). 10-15 Min walk to the beach. Amazing animators, very good place for families with kids but for adults too. Every night there was a different special event prepared , like local bands playing or magician's show. There's no free WiFi but in my opinion it's not a big deal. Only disadvantage, but a big one in my opinion is an atrocious amount of plastic being produced by giving out drinks in plastic cups. Please consider reusable plastic cups for a small deposit. It hurt my heart to see so much plastic not even being segregated afterwards. If it wasn't for the plastic I'd give this place 5 stars.
Palazzo
Hotel: Nice and clean, but surely not fulfilling 4 stars raiting. Electronic locks are not working, you need to use a traditional key instead and use the door card only for electricity switch. There are no reading lamps on the side tables by the beds and no switches to operate the light from the bed. We found ridiculous that you only get one small shampoo per person on the beginning of the stay (10 days in our case) and no other accessories at all. Of course, you can buy everything in the supermarket within the hotel building. In the bathroom there are no curtains on the bathtub and shower corner to protect the water to be everywhere around. There is nothing to put on the floor as a mat, so the only option is to use one of your small towels... On the other hand, it is nice to have choice of two large swimming pools and a small one for the kids... Food: The all inclusive offer is very limited and some items were constantly repeated, for instance mushrooms and fried meat which was obviously from frozen semifinished stock product. However, if you are not picky, you will not leave the canteen hungry. By the way, canteen is a pure disaster! It is small and many times people need to line around the tables. Then there is never enough tables for everyone, so sometimes you end up eating by the bar counter or walking around desperately with your plate waiting for someone to leave. Again, low bellow what you would expect in 4 stars hotel. Bar: Kind of what you would expect in the all inclusive facility. However, the bar closes at 22:00 and there is no chance to get a drink later, even if you are willing to pay extra. Also, during our stay it seemed to be a problem to keep sustainable staffing in the bar... Animation program: Probably the best part of what the hotel offers. The two animators were professional, diligent, all of the programs were bilingual with a very good level of English... and easy going, friendly and funny. Beach: You need to count with about 15 minutes walk to one of the nearest beaches - Kakao beach or Kika beach. We preferred the second one... Personnel: Most of the hotel staff are Ukrainians, they are very friendly, but one can sense that they have no relation to the hotel and only work on short contracts. The only locals you will probably meet in the hotel are the maids, but they don't seem to be excited about their job either. Finally: You can enjoy the holidays in this hotel if you are not picky and when you come with the right person ;)
Great holiday
Hotel was clean just came back with myself and my partner. Food was a bit repetitive, but no way could you say there wasn’t enough food, rooms cleaned every day and towels. Waitresses could have smiled . Good location to Sunny beach strip and Nessebar walking 20min walk each way or use the train sit and ride for 4 lev each person where ever you get on. Entertainment staff work there socks off
