Una estancia ideal
Hotel muy acogedor con un muy buen restaurante para comidas y cenas. English breakfast muy completo y delicioso.
Wet, windy and wonderful
Lovely hotel, warm and friendly staff, food delicious and plentiful, beautiful room with fantastic views across the river valley. Even a coffee machine in our room. We’d love to return in better weather, to spend time in the gardens and taking river walks - unfortunately we chose the dates storm Dennis hit the country. Good position to visit local attractions, stunning countryside, Brighton and Eastbourne.
Lovely hotel with exceptional service!
We booked a weekend break with our dog. The hotel is fantastic, very clean and in an excellent location. The staff there really made us all feel welcome. They very very attentive in all areas but especially receptionist Shelley and staff in restaurant. If we had to make a criticism, it would have to be the hot buffet breakfast.. we don’t like food that has been cooked then kept warm especially things like scrambled eggs. The a la carte breakfast was excellent. We had dinner there and it was really fantastic. Room very large with fantastic view! Very dog friendly.
Valentines over night stay
From the moment we walked in we were welcomed by the friendly staff of Deans Place. Lucinda the proprietor also welcomed us and remembered we wed here back in 2014. Not only did they upgrade our room we were greeted with a beautiful card and delicious chocolates. This little touch was was greatly received and what makes this charm of a hotel so unique and personal. Evening meal-We ventured down to the AA Rosette restaurant for what we knew was going to be an evening of delicious food and great service. A complementary glass of Kir Royal (thanks Jo) was enjoyed by us and all the guests whilst we deliberated what to choose off the mouth watering menu. Every dish was made to perfection-compliments to the chef! We spoke to Josh (the sous chef) after in the bar and he informed us how they prepared the rib eye steak. That was an education! Thanks Josh. Room-We went back to our clean, cosy room for the evening and woke up to a beautiful view of the river Cuckmere enjoying complementary coffee and biscuits in bed. Breakfast-You name it they had it....from full fry up to eggs royal and pancakes-delicious. Lydia our waitress made us feel so welcome. Some parts of the breakfast was buffet and some was table service. It goes without saying we didn’t need to eat for the remainder of the day. We took our unfinished coffees back to our favourite part of Deans-the lounge/bar area and sat beside the roaring fire watching people come and go. Area-Deans Place is set in the picturesque village of Alfriston, East Sussex. There are many lovely country walks around the area with both Eastbourne and Brighton nearby. If you want a place to unwind and relax then this hidden little gem is the place to stay. We regularly visit and every time we come away we always feel relaxed. Keep up the good work James, Lucinda and Team. Dan and Hannah Foster
As another reviewer noted the roadworks in Alfriston result in a substantial diversion which is only evident on arrival in the village. As suggested elsewhere information to advise on this would have been most welcome before we set out but for others who might be travelling to Alfriston: DON’T GO VIA THE A22 ! Deans Place is a decent enough hotel in a good location. The staff were helpful, polite, the bar prices not extortionate. Afternoon tea was good. Dinner in the restaurant was also good and there is a decent selection of wine. Breakfast on Day 1 was cooked to order and good but on Day 2 it was a buffet and not so good. Our room was billed as an inland view but overlooked a courtyard; not a big deal at this time of year but once the lighter evenings are here a room with a proper view would be preferable. The room was adequate, over bath shower, small tv but a very comfortable bed. Fires lit around the hotel and plenty of comfy seats and sofas to relax upon. All in all not a bad place.
