Fantastic hotel in a perfect location close to the Opera house, harbour bridge, the rocks and the CBD. Hotel rooms were nice, if a little basic. Bathrooms are on the small side but have everything you need. Room had a fantastic view out to the water. Downside to this place were the bars. Lobby bar needs to have more selection of spirits, beers and a better choice of cocktails. Menu is severely lacking. Don’t get me started on the $8 for a takeaway coffee. The Aster bar also needs work. Staff didn’t acknowledge us despite saying take a seat and someone will be over. 15 minutes later.. we were still waiting. When asked if they could make up classic cocktail, Long Island ice tea and a Tom Collins they initially said yes only to return five minutes saying they can’t make classic cocktails. For a decent establishment like that you would expect that staff could make up the classics. Overall it’s definitely worth staying in. If they can improve on those points it should continue to be one of the best options in Sydney

Hotel in a great location close to most amenities. Breakfast is great with huge buffet. When arrived tried to book room to later check out although being a member of IGH would only let us to 3pm. On check out told all OK and nothing to pay as sorted by travel agent. Returned to UK to find credit card payment for hotel of £500. After speaking to hotel said it would be paid back still waiting won't be staying here again

Now reading the other reviews it seems as though overcharging and putting extra charges on your credit card is a common occurrence at Intercontinental Sydney! We like the other reviewers have had a horrendous time because trying to get someone to actually help is like an actual comedy act. They will not return your calls or emails, their team just don’t care. You’ll get the same “we will contact you with an update” and then you won’t hear from them. Consistently disappointing. The entire hotel is like a funny farm where not one person knows really what they’re really meant to be doing. Consistently making mistakes with no apologies, wrong orders, long waiting times and zero leadership. The final blow was seeing all the extra charges on our card after a a zero star stay and STILL awaiting refunds because we can’t seem to get anyone to contact us! Do yourself the greatest favour and stay elsewhere! The hotel is renovated but they forgot to renovate their ability to deliver the reputation of the Intercontinental brand. So frustrating and the incompetence is unbelievable. DO NOT STAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It seems as though we are not alone without card being overcharged and a common theme with all the recent reviews. We are STILL chasing up all the extra charges and asking for refund after what would be the most pathetic hotel stay. The location is great and that is where it all ends. No one in this hotel knows what they are doing. It is frustrating from beginning to end. Wrong orders, staff confused, exhaustingly long waiting times. Save yourself the frustration. Stay elsewhere. We chose to stay at The Sir Stamford next door now. We can HIGHLY recommend the Sir Stamford with their impeccable service, staff, rooms and facilities.

Brilliant Refresh!!

This property has had a much needed refresh, the rooms and public areas look fantastic...well done! The rooms in the past were honestly looking a bit tired but they have done a really good job to lift the standard. As they seem to have employed a lot of new staff, I feel the service standards especially in the F&B and Front Desk areas are a bit mediocre, definitely not to the same standard it once was.
