Very comfortable bed. Good location off I-75. Staff very accommodating and friendly. Restaurants near by. On Evans was very good if you are traveling with family. Easy to find. Clean and comfortable. Handy parking.
So much for the Marriott Cleanliness Council. This was the WORST hotel I have ever stayed in. The room was NOT vaccuumed or dusted, much less sanitized in any way. The horrible I moldy smell getting off the elevator was the first clue. Then the rodent droppings in the window sill. There was an area by the bed that was sticky that we kept stepping in. Stains everywhere. Mildew in the bathroom. This post would only upload 10 pics or there would be more. There was even a small child's footprint in dust on the bottom of a standing lamp! No we didn't ask for a new room. The lack of care in this room didn't bode well for any part of the hotel.
OK Marriott property and how one employee can ruin it all
I was recently at this Marriott property. For a Courtyard by Marriott not a bad hotel. Unfortunately, one person at the front desk ruined my stay completely. The name of the employee is "Descarte/Freeport Bahamas" from his badge. There was no coffee maker in my room and I asked over the phone if I could get one. The response was, "Yes, you can have a coffee maker, but we are very busy and overwhelmed here at the front desk and you have to come downstairs and pick it up yourself" So, I did go down stairs to the front desk and to my amazement there was not a single person waiting at the front desk or even in the lobby for that matter. Even the clerk, Mr. Descarte was not to be seen...I asked to speak to the manager on duty, bu was told by the person at the front desk that the manager on duty was in a meeting and can't come to speak to me. What about the coffee maker - "we will bring it up to your room", which they did later. Finally. Mr. Descarte is a young person and I wish him the best and believe that he can do well in some other job/position in life, but not working with people. Again, he is young and has a lot to learn in life, including working with people and being polite and helpful in a position like a front desk clerk at a hotel. For now, though, he should not be kept at the front desk of a hotel, being rude and unprofessional.
Not worth staying here
Sad to say I am a platinum member the first room smelled so bad asked to move second room still smelled room was not well maintained. Bath room was scary. Floor was loose. The lobby looked ok the bar only has wine/beer
Amazing experience - the BEST employees
We had a fantastic stay at this hotel! I have never encountered a friendlier or more accommodating hotel staff. From check in with Michaela and Tracy, to housekeeping to the day manager, (woman with glasses, I didn't catch her name). Answered all questions with a smile. We asked for more toiletries since we travel with 4 females (lol). No problem at all. Everyone smiled and said good morning or good afternoon. We travel a lot and I've been at hotels where staff barely acknowledge you, let alone go out of there way to ask if you need anything, like these employees were more then willing to do. Room was clean and spacious. Bed was very comfortable. Nice balcony with plenty of room to sit out and enjoy a coffee if you would like. Nice restaurant/bar area. Small business area where you can access a computer, which I did need to use once to check on something for my job. Nice pool area that was not crowded and kept clean the whole time we were there. Nice thick towels stocked by the pool. It was little chilly, even for us Virginians, but we braved the pool a few times. I bet it is even more refreshing in the summer. Close to A LOT. At most, 10 minute drive to Busch Gardens which was on our to do list, 5 minutes from Lettuce Lake Park (see my other review), and a short drive from several restaurant/shopping areas with a good mix of chain restaurants and sole proprietor owned places. Close to USF so that probably feeds the economy of the area. Overall, a great hotel. Definitely would stay again next time we are in Tampa!
