Wonderful surprise

Our cruise ship arrived late and we have decided to stay in Tampa for one night because we were too tired to drive back home after the cruise. We found this hotel on the Marriott website, when we arrived we couldn’t believe how beautiful this hotel is. The room is beautiful and very comfortable. The staff was very class and professional, they gave us all the information we needed for our stay. We had the water view, it was gorgeous with all the Christmas lights. We had dinner at a connected restaurant, very nice too. The breakfast area was absolutely fantastic, spacious and great view. The food was really good too. My husband and I will definitely come back to this hotel for a longer period of time to visit the area.

Great rooms, love the service.

Westin is excellent, rooms are confortable and baths are re-done. Hotel is in a great location. Must say that Mr. George Conzelman at Front Desk is a star. He will go out of his way to make sure you are happy and pleased. The girl that fixed our room, left us a beautiful note. Thanks Westin.

Westin Tampa Waterside Thanksgiving Weekend

Excellent location, great room with a water view. Our room was cleaned daily, and we stayed there for five nights. I have not seen that happen in a long time. Our favorite employee was Joe, the Bartender. We would recap our day every night at the bar because of Joe. He also gave us tips on what to visit and where to eat.

Stay was not bad overall. Housekeeping was good and all we encountered were friendly. Fridge in our room had a bad smell. I think someone cleaned it upon request, but it was still smelly. And it really didn't keep waters cool. I wouldn't use it for anything perishable. We just opted to not use it at all. Kids' sports teams ran amok, screaming and laughing through the halls and on elevators each night. Totally unsupervised w/out adults. Not really the hotel's fault, but where was management and/or security. There's a little pantry area for snack purchases next to the front desk. Choices were very slim and got slimmer as the week went on. Never replenished. The only chocolate candy available was Whoppers. Yuck. The restaurant is really just a bar that also serves food. Bartenders were nice and attentive. But on the first night, as I dined with my children, the music being played had several F words. One bartender quickly changed it. The new music? "I Wanna Sex You Up." Oh dear. I ordered the chicken bacon ranch wrap and fries. Fries were cold but still crispy so we ate them anyway. Wrap was FiLLED with red onion chunks. This ingredient was not mentioned on the menu. Glad I wasn't allergic. Just don't like them. A few nights later, we ordered guacamole at the bar. Same - - filled with red onion. And the burger came with a huge chunk of yep - red onion. Ugh. Does the kitchen have a surplus to use up? Breakfast buffet was mediocre. Same offerings every day except rotating choice of french toast, waffles, or pancakes (which were kind of mushy). The cereals in those dispenser type things seemed stale. They were also mislabeled. Clearly the Kix was Cap'n Crunch "knockoff" (I can tell - it wasn't the real thing) and the Fruit Loops container had Crunch Berries. Bagels constantly ran out and were replaced with less appealing raisin or cinnamon flavor. We once asked the server if more bagels were coming. He said, Yes, but they won't be plain. I guess they get that a lot. Fruit choices never included strawberries. We don't eat melon, so that left pineapple. One morning, it was underripe and crunchy. Another morning, it tasted like it had been cross-contaminated with, you guessed it - onions. Pool towels were thin and small. There was a pool bar but it was shuttered. I've stayed at other Westins that were a bit more high end. This was more like a Courtyard or similar. Not bad, but didn't quite live up to expectations for this brand.

Perfect spot!
