Needs some TLC

Actually the property is really nice but somehow it appears a bit neglected. Furniture in the rooms is really a bit simple, however the beds are comfortable. Bathroom was really nice and clean enough but installations need some maintenance. The biggest problem was the air con, it’s incredibly noisy.
A little rundown

Tlacotalpan is a lovely town on a picturesque river. We had a big room on the river side. However, the hotel is a little rundown and poorly maintained - the toilet seat was broken, hot water was intermittent at best - and it wasn't very clean.
Clean and quiet.

I spent one night here in the "suite" overlooking the river, the room is big, the AC was working fine, I love the sound of AC and for me it was not an inconvenience that it was kind of loud (is a very old unit). The room was clean, the hotel was empty, we were probably the only ones there. Is a good place to rest, comfy beds. My only complaint would be that there was no table or chairs in the balcony of the room in case you want to sit and enjoy the view (which is beautiful) and the same goes for the central common area, there are no tables or chairs. Other than that is a very good place to stay.
a restful stop on our busy journey

wonderful little hotel right on the river. very nice and accomodating staff, they meet your every need. the rooms are very ample, comfortable bed, maybe not enough lighting in the bathroom, but everything is clean, and the air conditioner is awesome. we visited in may, which is not in season, so the restaurant was not open, but we brought our own drinks and chips to sit out on the deck overlooking the river, and they let us use their refrigerator to keep out ice cold, and offered us glasses, etc. very friendly place. we ate downtown at dona lala´s. WONDERFUL fixed price menu. one of the best meals on our trip, and great service. also upon driving into town we were met by armando, agustin lara´s double. he asked us where we were going, gave us directions, then showed up at the hotel and offered us a tour of the town, together with a boat ride down the papoloapan river. there were 8 of us, and he only wanted to charge 40 pesos a person, we gave him 50 each, and it was a steal. he even gave us free ice cream from his cart. wonderful town, so laid back. and casa del rio, is the best place to stay for sure.
Lovely Hotel By The River

This hotel is good price for quality with a lot of ambiance. The rooms are clean, cool and spacious, the beds are comfortable and the staff are friendly and offer good service. There is a staff member who can assist you in English if you don't speak Spanish. Try their delicious breakfasts on the balcony by the river in the mornings! Casa del Rio is a great place to stay when you visit Tlacotalpan.
