More about the hotel
Cheap price for a modern and well kept capsule hotel
I stayed here for 3nights while visiting Tokyo. I was pleasantly surprised how modern and well kept the hotel was, considering the price i paid for it. Once checked in, you choose a locker where you will find slippers (as you cant wear shoes once in you are in the living areas, slippers/socks only) and night wear. Bathrooms were very clean and modern. Individual shower cubicles and no shared showers. Capsule room itself comes with a light and an alarm system. There are different living and communal areas for men and women. Very well located in the centre of tokyo so you are near to everything.
Takes a day to get used to
My main suggestion is packing your suitcase with packing cubes if you’re coming for more than a day. I planned my days and put everything in a cube so the locker space was enough, while my suitcase was in the unlocked communal suitcase closet. I had a lock on my suitcase so I didn’t mind it being accessible. The locker space tends to get very cold especially in the mornings to have socks on. I left a bottle of water in there one night and the next day it was fridge cold. The bed wasn’t too comfy (the mattress was thin and the pillow was very tough-but this is a personal opinion of course). The people at the reception were always friendly. The hotel was very clean. I never had an issue with finding a place to sit or finding an empty shower. After the first night, I got used to the system (it was my first time staying at a capsule hotel) and Ginza Bay started to feel like home. The location was more than satisfactory. Overall, highly recommended for budget travelers who want to stay a bit away from Tokyo’s mad crowds.
Super Pod Experience
Stayed for three nights during the Rugby World Cup At 71 I thought I'd be pushing the boat out, but what a great three days, it was very clean and comfortable with courteous and helpful staff. It was peaceful with great shower and toilet facilities. It was also lose to many attractions bars and restaurants. Well done Ginza Bay Hotel making an old Welshmans stay so enjoyable.
Bunkered down from typhoon Hagibis.
Safe refuge from the storm. Efficient if chaotic checkin. Locker and capsule provided . Capsule ideal burrow whilst storm and earthquake hit Tokyo. Well serviced facilities and vending machines. Sports style changing rooms and showers, towels , kimono slippers all provided. Same sex floors and lounges.
Convenient location
First time ive stayed in a capsule and it was interesting staying with my 14yo son on a separate floor which I realise is usual. Had good facilities but not much cheaper than a hotel which I thought it would be.
