Lovely dinner for couples!
Opinión escrita el 16 de Julio de 2021
We had a wonderful dinner in Manning's restaurant while served by Nancy.
We were all very pleased with the food and the tapas style dinner. Food was amazing and presented very well in elegant plates. I would definitely recommend for a fine dining dinner!
Truro to form

The hotel is set in an elegant old stone townhouse. I opted for one of the apartment rooms in the nearby annexe. It offered all the advantages of a hotel but the self-contained privacy of being at home.
My apartment was a secure, clean and comfortable living area, which contained a well-equipped kitchen area, with fridge, cooker, kettle and crockery, The bed was large and comfortable and the room included a desk and two chairs, armchairs and flat-screen TV. The spacious bathroom included a walk-in shower. No need to ask for anything because room 101 had it all!
There is free WiFi in all areas and offers 24-hour front desk. There's the added security of a 10ft gate, which required use of a PIN to gain access to the apartment, or the parking area.
Breakfast in the hotel was a generous continental breakfast served at the table, with choice of juice, toast, croissants, fruit and cereals - or a cooked option for a supplement. Mannings is slap bang in the city centre, 200 yards from the neo-Gothic Truro cathedral and 10 mins walk to railway station.
Tired and average
Opinión escrita el 4 de Decembre de 2020
Stayed here several times in business.
The hotel rooms and communal areas are old and tired. Bedroom grim, old worn bathrooms , plain white tiles, lino floors and gloss white paint old wood and boarding. The cheapest items with room tea and coffee set. Tatty ironing board in my wardrobe. Creaky corridor floors.
Wouldn't clean and service room due to covid . Cooked breakfast warmed over and not very fresh tasting, they served fruit yogurt in a bowl at breakfast one day rather than give me the yogurt in the plastic pot it comes in - I concluded the yogurt was out of date , why else would they want to decant it ? Ate evening meal here a couple of times and it was awful, medium rare steak fridge cold in the centre, tempura battered fish goujons were coated in extra thick tasteless stodge.
Staff pleasant and helpful so assume the owners don't want to invest in better facilities for guests.
A very disappointing 'weekender' booking
Opinión escrita el 22 de Novembre de 2020
My partner and I bought a 'weekender' voucher at a charity auction and had high hopes for a romantic evening at Mannings, including an evening meal and a quality hotel room. Neither met our expectations by some distance.
The hotel room, in the main building, was desperately drab and lacking any character. The furniture was tatty and worn, the bathroom was banal and functional at best and the room was devoid of any thoughtful touches at all.
In the makeshift restaurant there were no heating lamps which meant we spent the duration of our meal cold and uncomfortable. While the service was friendly, the food was not memorable at all and we were happy to leave after finishing the main meal. Another disappointing experience.
Back in our hotel room we were then woken up in the early hours by a couple having a violent confrontation in the corridor. When I opened the door a gentleman was covered in blood. It was all very unpleasant. In the morning the receptionist apologised for the inconvenience but this hardly offered compensation for what was a woefully inadequate experience on every front.
