Great resort, friendly and caring staff. The staff will help and remember who you are and what you like. They will look out for you when they can. Ask them for a the taco stand in Tullem!!! Even the guard at the gate will remember who you are!
A piece of paradise in Tulum
Awesome Resort, clean, romantic, fun, a lot of beautiful gardens, a great place to take pics, the beach is beautiful, you can jog or walk or swim my family really loved it, this is an experience you must live, is totally wort it.
Your dreams will hardly come true at Dreams Tulum Resort&Spa
It seems that the hotel staff are not interested in guests coming here again. First, at our check-in day we asked for in-room dining and in one dish the avocado was rotten, in another one the cheese was dried, as if it had been lying open for more than one day. Next, we received a voucher from the hotel for $2000 to spend on spa, special wine, etc. We’ve decided to use them for a bottle of wine and checked on the reception the sum that we should pay in addition to the voucher. But in the end, it appeared that we had to pay in addition much more that we were told before. Sure, if we knew it, we wouldn’t buy the wine! It was very unpleasant! But the most outstandingly ridiculous situation was upon our check-out. When we paid for the service the administrator gave us all the documents but didn’t return our credit card. He asked for extra charge, but we disagreed. So, when we went out irritated, we forgot the credit card, and administrator knew it. He called to the gate about forgotten card, but we had already gone by that time. Why he didn’t call us directly? He had our mobile number in all the forms that we had filled in while check-in! We found out that we forgot the card only 500 km away from Tulum (we drove for our vacation). We called to the reception and were explained that for getting our card back we had to organize its pickup by some transport company. We filled out the electronic delivery form on DHL website and sent the required documents to the hotel. I got an email that the concierge team got it. BUT the next day I got an email that DHL did came to pick up your package but unfortunately, they needed the Voucher and/or a proof of payment, that they didn’t have. What? They confirmed that they got my email with all necessary documents before! And again – why they didn’t call us in this urgent situation? They also wrote me about an option to avoid the shipment by visiting to the bank to get a new card although it was clear that the credit card was issued by Russian bank and obviously, we can’t go there now. Finally, the shipment was organized but I’m very, very disappointed. Such a beautiful “hacienda-style” hotel and such an insolent service. If you still think about going there be very very careful about your credit cards.
Great Getaway for a Girls Trip
The Dreams Tulum provided a wonderful experience during the time of COVID. The hotel took great precautions with cleaning guidelines and requiring guest to wear masks when out in public areas. The staff were extremely nice and humble; Arturo provided excellent customer service at Bordeaux restaurant. He went above and beyond to ensure our dining experience was amazing. Limbergh was our go to guy for great drinks and kept us laughing the whole night. And Ricky was the amazing activity director who helped us dance the day and night away. The spa service was great. We started with a hydrotherapy experience followed by a relaxation massage. It was very calm and soothing. The guestroom was spacious and very clean. The beds were soft and comfortable although we lacked a good view. The night time entertainment showcased a Mariachi band, Mexican show and Karaoke night...we really enjoyed the different theme nights. The pool area and beach were great! Due to COVID, the occupancy was low so we were able to get lounge chairs that provided great views of the water. My two concerns about the hotel is that the property was a little old and needed repair in some areas...the sink in my guestroom was leaking water all over the counter. There are also a lot of iguanas since the hotel has a beautiful rain forest like garden area to walk through. If you leave your food unattended near the pool area, don't be surprised to see an iguana stealing one of your french fries. Overall my experience at Dreams Tulum was great and I would definitely go back.
Could have been much better
Upgrading to preferred club was not worth it. The food is poor to mediocre. Drinks are not made consistently and the presentation in highly used plastic cups was disappointing. The grounds are nice, but the beach is covered in washed up trash just a few meters from the hotel beach. Pretty disappointing experience.
