Clean, close to the town center and Tech friendly- but human contact sparse!

Reviewed 14 november, 2022

We arrived from Antwerp expecting to be greeted with the warmth of our last hosts, but Chester makes up for it with other amenities. No contact upon entry, we make our way to our room up a narrow, winding staircase. The suite did not disappoint, it was clean, comfortable, and located for exploring the environs of wonderful Bruges.

Never Again

Reviewed 29 august, 2022

The hotel has sent us an email cancelling our reservation due to a supposed technical error. When we called to explain that we had received the cancellation we were told that it was not their problem as it was a website site issue! Somehow they have nothing to do with their own website, very odd considering it’s exactly where we made the booking, opting not to go via booking.com. The staff member on the phone was extremely rude and unhelpful explaining we should book somewhere else as it was not his problem, he eventually just slammed the phone down. Having made the booking on the 20th of July we received the cancellation on the 28th of August. Prices in Bruges have now significantly increased for our dates. The honourable thing to do would have been to offer another room irrespective of price and size. Clearly this hotel does not live in fear of poor customer service and bad reviews. I’ve rarely seen such shameful service.

Beautiful, clean and comfortable stay in Bruges

Reviewed 20 march, 2020

We stayed at the Chester B&B in early March 2020: The Pros: The Chester B&B was a lovely refuge for us while we stayed in Bruges. The hosts were not available at our arrival, but buzzed us in and left us with a key for our room. Our room (the downstairs king shown in the first picture with the fireplace) was nothing short of amazing. Large and well equipped, it also had a beautiful bathroom with a small patio right outside, a very comfortable king sized bed and a lovely little sitting area with tea, coffee, chocolate and water. The sitting area and breakfast nook were beautifully decorated. The breakfast was also delicious. Location was very central, but on a pedestrian only street, so also quiet, private, comfortable and safe. The honor bar was also a bonus! The Cons: Communication was limited. I texted a day ahead of time for a late check out, but no reply. So when I asked at breakfast the day of our departure, it was too late and not possible. We also had a small ant problem, but it was taken care of immediately on day one and we did not have another issue during our stay. Lastly, we don't expect much from hotel staff, but as mentioned in other reviews, it did feel like it was half-staffed (at best). If you are looking for a personal touch and connection with the owners, this might not be the place for you. That all being said, we had a great stay overall. Hands down, we would stay here again without hesitation when visiting Bruges in the future.

Lovely.

Lovely living room area with complementary coffee and an honesty bar. Room is great, with a posh en suite and really nicely done out. Lovely overhead shower. Many windows and a Nespresso machine. A little complementary chocolate too. Breakfast fantastic: a range of continental options and scrambled egg on toast brought to the table. Fanciest breakfast I've had. Excellent central location.

Would go back any day!

We have stayed 3 days at B&B Chester and everything was perfect! This is a small B&B with only 4 rooms and its true that staff are not always on site but that’s is the charm of this place. We felt that we had the place to ourselves. We took advantage of the small common room since we were there with another couple. At the check in we got overcharged by mistake and when we contacted them they apologized right away and the next morning money was on our pillow. The breakfast was amazing. Contrary to previous comment, every morning someone was there to serve us coffee, yogurt & fruit and fresh eggs. Room are super clean and a very good size. Bed are so comfortable I could have slept for days! Location is perfect, only a short stroll from city centre. If ever we go back to Bruges will definitely stay at this B&B again!
