Worst Holiday Inn experience ever

We took a weekend trip to visit the reptarium in Utica and decided to go here because with the pandemic the pool was open. Bad choice. Our room was supposed to be ready at 2:30 and when we tried to check in to relax before our time slot at the zoo they kept saying wait longer, we will call. I got the call finally 3 hours later at 5:30 that it was ready- and we were already at the reptile zoo. Awesome. We stayed for 1 night and didn't even get access to our room till after dinner.
So with the pandemic the pool had to be booked in advance and only so many allowed. Ok that's fine I get it. However, when our time slot started the previous group wouldn't leave, I went to the front desk to ask about our time slot and they are like yep they need to get out, but didn't do anything, and my fiancee had to get them out so we could swim- which we didn't feel was our place. Then, once it cleared the pool was filthy, there was foam and a film on top and so murky you couldn't see the bottom, so after all that we didn't even swim and went to our room.
The hallway to our room smelled like marijuana, out room itself smell weird and after we waited the extra 3 hours to get a clean room the bathroom was dirty and there was dirt in the tub. Not impressed at all.
The staff was rude and acted like they hate their job, breakfast was mediocre, overall a terrible experience.
The only thing good about the hotel was the young lady who did our checkout Sunday morning. She was so kind, friendly and just a joy to talk to. She deserves a raise because she is the only pleasant thing in that building.
We will be coming back to Utica often, but Holiday Inn will never get our business again.
This place is fantastic!

The place is squeaky clean, with lots of plexiglass screens at every turn. Breakfast is served to you as you ask for items. When I was there it was bacon, turkey sausage, scrambled eggs, bananas, oranges, a dozen kinds of cereal and more. The rooms are up to date modern, have Keurig coffee machines and kcups, what a great amenity. The room was spacious and well appointed. The desk staff were central-casting perfect. I'll stay here again

This hotels standards drop as soon as midnight hits. Nothing comfy, quiet, or cozy about this location. Teenagers running up and down the hall at midnight, “neighbors” blaring music at 0230, and the smell of smoke in a smoke free hotel. Went to the front desk and was told that they can’t move me due to being full, and never addressed my other issues. And the pillows suck so now after three hours of sleep, my neck hurts 😡😡😡

This location was a bit run down. I’ve stayed at several holiday inns in the past 6mos and this location was one of the bottom. They still had tubs and curtains. The newer nicer locations have nice walking showers. With the tub there was mold in the corners and the ceilings are buckling. I was charged double but I will say it was fixed quickly. Staff was extremely nice. The hotels upkeep was just not up to my personal liking. The location of the hotel was why I selected it. It was near absolutely everything and anything you could think of...... mall, shopping, outback, Friday’s, longhorn, chili’s, red lobster, etc.
Not Family Friendly & Horrible Customer Service

We booked a stay here because we took a mini family trip to Legoland. We arrived to find out the pool was closed due to heater being broken. Nobody notified beforehand either. In addition to that there was a bowling tournament that weekend and they took over the lobby playing cards, swearing and beer cans stacked up. I am not judging people for partying because I do the same thing however I usually do it at a bar not a hotel lobby. The front desk said because of the pool being broken I could cancel with no penalties. I was stuck with 2 crying kids to fi and another hotel with no help or no cares by this place.
All this was fine and dandy and I found another place. Then the real problems started. They still charges my account saying I stayed there. 5 phone calles and 4 hours of total time I got it back through working with IHG. I tried working with the hotel directly but they were non responsive.
