Not great despite amazing views
Opinión escrita el 21 de Febrero de 2017
What a pity. The perfect lunch spot with fabulous, our views, not the easiest to ski to/ from but we made the effort. Service was moderate and food average. The goulash soup served in a bread bun is a novel idea, looked nice but tasted horrid and had mostly gristle rather than meat. The tomato soup from the menu was made from powder and was revolting. Our guests had the steak Ardoise where you are given a hot stone and you cook the meat yourself and dip it into sauces and accompanied by chips. This they liked. So a very mixed visit. We won't b rushing back, sadly. Sorry.
Nice place to go with kids, friendly service, but food could be better

A nice place to go with kids to see the animals, a beautiful view on the Dents du Midi, very friendly service, nice to see the staff remains loyal. But the food could be better. Guess this is a good place for amateurs of röstis, but not for salads neither for quiche.
Really solid - would recommend

I've stayed here a few times and I'd stay here again for sure. Clean. Food is good, service is fantastic, the views are astonishing and when you can ski in (and out with some difficulty, only because of finding my way to a lift!) you can't ask for much more. The rooms are a bit tired, but that's as critical as I can be.
Second Stay Even Better Than The First
Opinión escrita el 20 de Febrero de 2015
My second stay here, and a divferent experience from the first. The last time Le Relais bailed us out after another local hotel bungled our booking. This time we always i tended to go there.
First, the service: nothing was too much trouble and when our arrangements changed (we were very late to arrive because of travel delays) Sylvia could not have been more helpful, and even refunded us the half board element of our first night because we missed supper.
Second, the view: a new conservatory overlooking the most amazing view enhances the indoor space significantly. The terrace was perfect for a drink after skiing.
Third, location. Genuine ski in and ski out, remote from the noise of a resort, and with a sense of thetradition of swiss ski hamlets, it's great!
The food is good enough, the rooms comfortable, the sauna hot, the lounge and games area comfortable, the prices reasonable. It's not luxury, but it's a really good place to stay if you want to put skiing in your ski holiday. (And there are dormitories for the kids if you have lots or where families go on hols together).
A Hidden Gem

We didn't mean to stay here, but I am glad we did.
First things first: location. This hotel is about a third of the way up the mountain from Les Crosets. In winter, don't even think about driving up here without four wheel drive. Our hired Mercedes 4x4 got here very easily in a blizzard though. With the right vehicle it's easy. There are no other hotels/buildings for some way, so you won't be disturbed by a disco, or nightlife, but you won't be able to pop out for a crawl around the local bars. If you wanted that kind of holiday, you wouldn't be staying in Les Crosets anyway. You can ski straight in and straight out or this hotel. In the morning, you can even start 5-10 minutes before the lifts open if you are so minded because you are that far above the village. Hire your skis, if you need to, on the way through the village when you arrive.
The views are amazing. Returning from a day's skiing we chose to spend 45 minutes on the balcony in substantially subzero temperatures drinking hot chocolate just to enjoy the 225 degree stunning view - Dents de Midi opposite, views of mountains above Champery to the right, and down to Val Dilliez etc to the left.
Accommodating us at the last minute when another hotel mixed up our booking, our party stayed in a double room on the first floor, and a dormitory in the basement. The first floor double room was comfortable, even stylish, and very pleasant and spacious. The basement dormitory was basic, but perfectly functional. If you want a bunkhouse to do some serious skiing, the dormitory is for you. The price per person per night down there was a serious bargain, but I might not have wanted to spend a whole week in there. Showers were powerful (despite the altitude) and hot. Everything worked. We didn't try the sauna, but there is one.
The evening meal we had in the restaurant was excellent. It seemed to be the case that each evening has a different theme: our night was steak night, and the food was really good: steaks served raw with a red hot stone so that you can cook it to the degree you want it. Starters and puddings were good too. Breakfast was uncomplicated but good - fresh croissants, cereals, meats, cheeses, breads and jams etc.
Our experience is that service was excellent: most other guests staying at the hotel were German or Dutch families, and my impression is that once you have found this place you might return frequently. If your desire is for a walking holiday in the summer, or a skiing holiday with the emphasis on skiing not après, then this place will provide you with comfort, convenience, and by virtue of its location something a little different and special.
