2.5 Stars Hotel At Best

Reviewed 29 october, 2022

This is not a 4 stars hotel by any means. Whoever rated them never stayed there and was super generous with the rating. This is a 2.5 star hotel at best (and that is being generous). Our room had lots of problems starting with the air conditioner that worked intermittently and the control is probably one of the first controls ever made in the world. The power outlet on the left side of the bed is so loose that when you plug something to it, the lights go out. The internet was very slow and keeps dropping the signal, so surfing the web is very slow and streaming was not possible. The shower door did not close all the way, so the bathroom got all wet. Not all power outlets worked. There were lots of mosquitoes in the room. The spring mattress was so old that we could feel the metal springs on some parts of the mattress. The room key (yes only one and not electronic, not a card, but an actual key) has to be left at reception every time you leave the room. There is no iron or ironing board in the hotel, so instead they try to sell you an ironing service. The ground floor rooms, ours included, had dining tables set up right outside the door and we exited and entered our room through the restaurant as the restaurant and bar were literally outside our bedroom door. We could hear some loud patrons having drinks at the bar and dining outside our room. Another ground floor room has the front desk and lobby right outside their door. We took a trip to Verona one morning and needed to leave the hotel before 7:00AM and had to find someone to get the keys to the front door and to the front gate to let us out. Imagine if there is a fire or an emergency requiring evacuation and the front door and gate are under locking key… I don’t think these people ever heard of electronic access control, and the place was recently renovated we were told. The decor in our room was dated and the room smelled like mothballs and all of this for over €300 a night (no breakfast included). The staff was friendly and helpful, and the hotel is close to the train station, but if you have large and heavy luggage, you will struggle carrying them over 2 bridges to get to the hotel. This hotel is a 25 to 30 min walk to San Marco Square (maze walk through narrow alleys full of people). We will never stay here again and would advise you not to. Next time, well stay near San Marco and hire a water taxi to take us with our luggage even if arriving by train.

Close to Just About Everything, but Strangely Wonderfully Quiet

Reviewed 18 october, 2022

Delightfully Italian, and EVERY restaurant suggestion (to go to OR to stay away from) was absolutely reliable. We were in a suite #208, and it was massive and fun, typically Venetian in that it had any number of little nooks and corners. The bedroom was farthest from the Grand Canal, and relatively to very quiet for Venice. On the other hand, we had our own sweet balcony facing North to the Canal with afternoon sun, to read and just watch the world go by, on the water... One caveat: don't expect the water pressure or temperature in the shower to be consistent. That's just how Venice is, in our experience.

Very disappointed

Reviewed 17 october, 2022

I really wanted to love this hotel. The outside is beautiful. Upon entering it seems great. But beware of room 101. The shower is at most 14 inches wide. I'm 5'2", 120lbs and couldn't fit. I had to shower with the door open so the floor got all wet. I cut my leg badly while trying to shave. We asked to move rooms the next day and were told we had to do it at 11am. We had a tour at 11am and couldn't move at that time. We were told the only other option was to pay to upgrade to a suite. The lady at the front desk told us to "be mindful of the time." The shower floor was also cracked and felt like it might cave in. There's a step into the bathroom in the room which I fell over and hurt myself in the middle of the night. There is only 1 chair in the room so my wife and I couldn't both sit, no bottle opener for the mini bar, and no way to adjust the AC. I can sleep on almost anything but the bed springs poked us all night. The room was worn down and felt dirty. The breakfast was pretty inedible. We tried it the first day and went out the rest of our days there even though we'd paid for the breakfast. Not to mention, they did not share the price of laundry service, acted as though we were inconveniencing them by asking for laundry service, and then charged us $118 for one load of laundry at check out. For being a supposed 4 star hotel, we was extremely disappointed. Our honeymoon was honestly ruined by this hotel. Would definitely not recommend and if we ever return to Venice we would certainly choose another hotel.

Great little Hotel on the Grand Canal

Reviewed 12 october, 2022

We just stayed one night before our flight home. This hotel is easy walking distance from the Venice train station. Gorgeous little boutique hotel with lovely grounds around the historic home, including a delightful garden that overlooks the Grand Canal. Our check-in was flawless, and the staff was friendly and very helpful. The gentleman on the desk (I did not get his name unfortunately) even arranged a water taxi for our trip to the airport the next morning. They have a really cool, original boat garage/slip right on the hotel grounds. The room was very nice and roomy, new bathroom facilities and functioning A/C. We were in room 12, looking out at the side canal - just fine for one night since we didn't spend any time in the room except to sleep. The front desk mentioned the possibility of mosquitoes (found all over Venice - no surprise), and although we did have a couple in the room, it was probably because we had our window open for awhile. The night clerk, Miriam, was super nice and after our initial trek around town, showed us the second floor, part of which has been kept in museum quality condition from the original owner. She also suggested a local restaurant and called ahead to make sure there was a table. We had our breakfast included in our room charge, and the buffet style breakfast had everything you would want. Even had a gluten free section for those so inclined. We would highly recommend this wonderful hotel for either a short or long stay. Excellente!

Beyond gorgeous! Room 206

Reviewed 26 september, 2022

We stayed in room 206 overlooking the gardens and grand canal. Gorgeous view from our main balcony! Highly recommend this room! Hotel is friendly, clean and positioned conveniently across from the train station with just a short walk to the hotel. breakfast is fantastic, fresh with made to order coffees! Prosecco flows freely and the hotel is happy to offer dinner recommendations and secure water taxis when needled. Easy 20 minute walk to San Marco Plaza or take a private water taxi if you prefer. Hotel boasts one of the few gardens in the city. Gorgeous All around! Excellent value!!!
