Very disappointing for a 4 star
Reviewed 17 July, 2021
My partner and I stayed here to spend a couple of days exploring Venice. From the beginning we had issues. The furniture in the room was scratched and the decor was ugly. The sheets were paper thin, the hems undone and old. There was no other cover in the room just a sort of AC from the 80s that kept being put on by the cleaning staff despite us turning it off every time. Two twin beds were pushed together to make a double bed and there wasn’t even a mattress topper to cover the gap. But the worst was that the shower was COLD. Despite telling the reception nothing was done about it. When we came back from a visit in the centre the room smelled of SMOKE as if some of the staff that came to check the shower decided to smoke in our room. People at the desk were uninterested. One night wasn’t feeling well and asked if they had anything for an upset stomach or if they knew of a pharmacy nearby. I was met with ridicule. having a first aid and basic medicine cabinet is a requisite of any 4 star. Not only they didn’t have anything but the concierge told me to look up online any pharmacy that was still open. I thought the whole point of a concierge was to help with guests needs especially as I was in pain. No clue how they got 4 stars would never come back.
What a let down

The shower was good, the beds were comfy and that's all folks. This was terrible for a 4 star hotel, hence my rating. The reception desk staff were uninterested. We'd booked 2 rooms and the first was so small that we had to get an upgrade to a so-called suite, which was in the attic. No one helped us lug our suitcases up the twisty stairs. We had a lovely view of the roof tops from a small window. The decor in the 3 rooms we viewed was tired - scratched and marked paintwork, peeling veneers, worn velvet chairs. Everything was dated and I wonder how this was ever viewed as 4 Star. The breakfast was below average. It was clear the bacon and eggs were being reheated in the microwave. I got the feeling that this hotel has been trading on Venice's incredible popularity for many a year, with little effort put in to live up to the pictures you see here on Trip Advisor. I wish we had stayed somewhere else. We came to Venice during Covid and to be honest, if ever a business deserved to go under during the virus, it's this one. Go somewhere else, please.
Good location not quite a 4 * hotel though

Location wise was prefect, a few minutes walk from Saint Marks’s. The hotel itself was pleasant however there were many ants in the room and the decor was slightly dated. All in all though it is perfect for the location for a short stay in Venice.

Very well located hotel a few steps from San Marco square, I was there with my girlfriend for 2 nights and i suggest this hotel, silent and perfectly clean room, good breakfast, comfortable bed and spacious room. The service was kind and they all help us to enjoy the best from this amazing city. We will be back
Should not represent itself as A 4 star hotel

First, I’m writing this while still at the hotel so everything is fresh. Now, the positive. The room and bathroom (@least mine) are bigger than expected.
Now, the rest. No one helps you up with your suitcases whether it be walking 20 meters to the doc or up to your room. The street itself is deserted (which I like) but most people won’t. There is absolutely nothing around here. The nearest store is a very convoluted 5-7 minute walk away and the staff gives the wrong directions (meaning they say right when they should’ve said left). My first night out they asked what time I’ll be back. Why? Because they close and then shutter the doors. So no One is at reception? No. You have to ring a bell and someone will come open.
There is no recycling, no polite signs that hotels normally have saying in an effort to conserve water and natural resources they’ll only change the towels if you leave them on the floor. No sense of an care of conserving already, globally scarce water, offsetting any carbon footprints or reducing waste.
There are no robes provided (a 4 star normally has that), the bathroom faucets are old and dilapidated and missing parts. When you turn the water on it takes about 5 seconds for the water to start flowing. I thought they didn’t have any because I turned the handle quite a bit before it started coming out. There is no soap bar provided. Just watered down shower gel. Which was filled up In the bottle labeled shampoo and conditioner. the body lotion smells rather stale. The toilet paper holder is too small for the paper roll so whenever you go to cut off a pieces the roll comes flying off. There are 2 hair dryers. One mounted and one under the sink. The one mounted, which looks new, doesn’t work. The older one does. That’s the one that should be mounted. The mounted magnified mirror does pull, out as much as it should so you still have to leave over the sink to see yourself. Might as well use the main mirror. There’s a towel warming wrack that doesn’t work. And instead of glass cups there are plastic cups....wrapped in plastic bags!!!! And may I remind you, no recycling bins anywhere.
The room was scalding hot in An abnormal 55 degree (Fahrenheit) February yet the heat wasn’t on. They said to just crack open a window. There is only one tiny trash can in the bathroom. None in the room. There is no complimentary tea/coffee machine/water either. No pen and paper should you need any. The tv’s instruction are unintelligible and even if you follow just the icons, it’s not the way the tv works. They sent someone upstairs (Indian guy that I couldn’t understand) and he said you have to press 3 different buttons in this order and to turn it off 2 buttons in this order but to turn it in again 2 buttons in this order. Can’t there be Just one button for on and off? There are no English speaking channels either. BBC is only a voiceover.
THE PILLOWS ARE ROCK HARD. So be prepared to wake up each morning with a headache.
There is no closet but there is an open boudoir. Which has 6 hooks for hangers but only 4 hangers (of the kind that only have the neck of the hanger that you have to aim to slide into the hook that doesn’t come off the bar). So double up on hanging your clothes.
Next, AND THE ABSOLUTE WORST, the doors slam closed. They don’t close gently AT ALL. So good luck there. The room doors are so close together that one door opens while the other closes. AND the walls are PAPER THIN. So good luck there if someone is have a normal voiced conversation next door age be prepared to jump out a window if you have 2 people next door who are horny as toads. I cannot WAIT to get out of here. Lord give me strength to last another 2 nights. I’d be out all night but everything closes early in Venice. How can such an old building have paper thin walls is beyond me. And especially in a city where everything has to be built solidly.
