Good food fair price
The location is big, tables are spaced and staff friendly. Appetizers were many but slightly salted and a bit similar. Culurgiones were good. All in all good quality and fair prices, I would only suggest to add an English translation to the menu.
We didn't feel very welcome...
We read some nice reviews, but were not impressed. On arrival around 3 PM, we were handed the room key on check in - but no warm welcome or info at all. Going to the bar we asked for something to eat, but the anser was: "the restaurant is closed" Ok - how about a little snack from the bar? "The bar is closed" Ok - do you know where we can have something to eat? "No - All restaurants in Italy are closed until 7:30" Well, we managed to find an open restaurant a 10 minute drive away, and had some pizza. Back at the hotel we chilled by the pool - but could - of course - not get a beer until the bar opened.. After shower and dressing up, we were ready for dinner. Or not - entering the restaurant we were asked If we had a reservation - which we didn't - so we were gold the restaurant was full.. Eventually they gave us a table in a side room, but honestly - we were two out of 10 guests at the hotel - and they couldn' t hold a table for us? Or at least tell us on check in that we needed to make a reservation? Sorry, Il Castello, but this was not a very friendly experience. The rooms are ok, and the pizzas was good. The House vine was not.
Outstanding place to stay!! Very tranquil rooms with a great kitchen of both meat and fish; and an unsurpassed wine list to choose from. Any need is addressed by a professional attentive staff just as if you were at home. I always stay here.
Just great - thoroughly recommended.
We stayed a week and will probably return. This is a family run restaurant with rooms and is so good. It is out of town so you must have a car, but the nearest beach (soft small pebbles) is only 10 minutes. Within 30 minutes are the soft sand beaches of the Costa Rei. Access is good but do check routing because the hotel is on the 'old' SS125 just off the 'new' SS125. Food was so good we ate in every evening and that is very unusual for us who like to get around. The family are so welcoming and accommodating and do everything they can to help. The rooms are small but well equipped though tea/coffee making facilities would be a nice addition. Air conditioning is excellent - very quiet and efficient. The beds are comfortable. The swimming pool is one of the cleanest we have ever found and a good size for a proper swim.
Quiet and relaxing
Stayed here for four nights staff treat you like family, always glad to see you and very helpful. Basically in the middle of nowhere but many historical sites as well as a short car ride to clean beach. Room was spotless A/C worked fine, tv had BBC world news, rest all Italian. The restaurant has a great menu selection and the food was always good and reasonably priced.
