Solid if unremarkable
First, the positives. Rooms are comfortable (very nice beds). Staff are very helpful. Decent variety at the a la carte breakfast; if you have status with Marriott, the breakfast benefit will more than cover anything you want to order. The neighborhood is pretty dead in the evenings, but hopefully you know this before booking. You're a reasonable walking distance from either Georgetown or Dupont Circle. Hotel was weirdly chilly when I stayed there in January—the A/C seemed to be going full-tilt in the hallways, despite the temperature outside being freezing—but that's about my only real complaint. Perfectly fine choice for a business trip.
Nice Place, Great Location, odd set of minor maintenance problems
We stayed there for a weekend and had a very pleasant experience. The staff was super friendly and the bar in the basement was a nice place to hang out. There were some odd maintenance problems - not big enough to merit a complaint to the front desk but when my friends and I compared notes, they added up - our faucet leaked, the shower had about a five minute lag in temp control, my buddies shower door was falling off, and the temperature was set on heat in his room. I would go back and stay there if I had the option.
Our experience at the Westin was enjoyable. Courteous gentlemen for valet parking to the front desk employee. After a day of shopping in Georgetown and taking in a show at the Kennedy Center, the heavenly beds were just that, “Heavenly Slumber” The room was clean and updated with modern bathroom. In the morning located in lobby there was complimentary Starbucks coffee and Tazo tea, which was much enjoyed. We splurged for breakfast at hotel before checking out. Great location for Georgetown.
If you are use to the high standard you get at a Westin, then don’t stay here. Started off with a 20 mins wait to check in. (And yes i am an elite member and used mobile checkin). The bar and restaurant was closed and no suggestions were given as to where to go even after we asked. We actually went across the street to the Fairmont that has a lovely door man, and really nice bar. The room was nice and the bed is “Heavenly” however, not when you are awoken at 3am by a fire detector battery beeping because it needs to be changed. We removed the detector and brought it down with us at checkout. The associate looked at it and said, “What am i supposed to do with that?”. No apology, no acknowledgment. NOT good! Very disappointing really bad service or should i say NO service.
Great Location, great beds
Westin has figured out that everyone loves a great bed. Westin Georgetown, with a convenient location near the Foggy Bottom Metro stop, is also a short walk to a myriad of restaurants. An easy place to stay at a reasonable price.
