Very satisfactory, thank you Viking Hotel

Reasonable value, we got what we would have expected for what we experienced. The staff were very attentive and we’d like to single out KAYLEIGH at breakfast was an excellent waitress, clearly well able to work under pressure. Thank you Kayleigh!
These are strange and difficult times, you guys are all doing an excellent job.
This is a good location for access to the city of Waterford and very near Tramore, but not too near, and plenty of free safe onsite parking.
Disappointed with service

Firstly I have to say this is a lovely hotel. The reception staff are very friendly on arrival giving you all the information needed. Housekeeping are very helpful especially when their jobs are made harder by not being able to clean your room daily due to Covid. Anything you needed they supplied immediately. Now for the really disappointing part to this whole stay, THE DINING OMG what a shambles. We went down to have 1 drink (thankfully that was all) we met the man at the entrance to the bar/restaurant who seated us. He said he would bring us a drinks menu to view but he never showed up with it. After 10 minutes we asked one of the young waitresses could we have one. She gave us one but yet again we never saw her again. The man who showed us to the table came over to us after definitely 20 minutes waiting and said did you get drinks. We said NO still waiting to be served. He then took our order after apologizing. My friend ordered a bulmers and I order a passion fruit Martini. He got his first but I had another wait for mine and when I eventually got it dear Jesus it was SHOCKING. It came in a wine glass and looked like it was thrown together (see picture) and cost €9. Overall it took nearly 40 mins to get 1 drink but less than 2 mins for them to come over with our bill. From my observation firstly where was the manager, why are staff not allocated designated areas instead of being all over the place and definitely training needs to be given or refreshed. I understand we are in a pandemic but Jesus I couldn’t believe how badly that bar/restaurant was ran no organization whatsoever. Unfortunately this service is what’s going to let this lovely hotel down. Hence why we didn’t eat or drink here for the rest of our stay. But like I said the rest of our stay was lovely and I would return but might just bring my own drink/food with me.
Won't come back

We booked 3 nights over the weekend but we had to stay only 2.
The hotel is nice but won't stay again there. We paid more than €400 for 3 nights just after lockdown restrictions were lifted - very expensive for what we received.
The room is was clean but constantly a very bad smell came from the bathroom, we had to keep the bathroom door always closed. It was no air conditioning in the room so we had to keep the windows open but the room was right in front of kitchen HVACs that made a terrible noise from 6am to 11pm. So after 2 nights we decided to leave and get back home.

Stayed in the viking hotel over the past weekend... Our first weekend away since the pandemic. I felt we got a very cold welcome from reception staff, basically telling us that we had to be on time and not to be late for dinner or breakfast. We were join by another couple for dinner. I felt we were rushed by staff to eat our meal, staff trying to take plates without our meal being finished. We were told at 22.20 it was last call for drinks, when questioned she didn't realise the time but we felt rushed and like we were an inconvenience. At breakfast the following morning, the table was dressed poorly no glasses for water, no condiments, breakfast itself was cold eggs/potatoes not cooked properly. Had asked staff for butter, water and glasses... as waiting for a long period of time my partner stood up without mask and was shouted at to what may seemed to be the manger and made a scene about the fact that he stood up without a mask yet where I was sitting I could touch the person behind me. Now I understand the pressures the hospitality sector are under but all throughout our stay we felt unwelcome and felt that some of the treatment was rude. As a health care professional that worked throughout the pandemic looking after patient covid, I have a huge understanding of guidlines, procedures and have respect for the covid guidelines, but I feel the treatment was uncalled for.
