Brilliant!

Three of us stayed in the family suite on a walking weekend. Spotless and very lovely- very comfortable - 1 twin room and 1 double - good bathroom. Would highly recommend! Managed to park outside for free, short walk to the pier.

Little gem

We stayed for one night and it was perfect. Family room was great for our daughter and her friends. Great location, clean and very comfortable with a view of the sea from our sofa. Really helpful and friendly owner.

Not a B&B, just a 'B', which is why it's perfect for me!

I normally stay in hotels, as I prefer to just come and go and to not have to make polite conversation with people I don't want to talk to, nor eat a breakfast I don't really want, so The Loriston suited me perfectly. Vic was a great host: friendly, polite, and with just the right amount of 'chat'! He even carried my case to my car when I left. The place is clean, doesn't smell of plug-in air fresheners and has dark grey, plain carpets throughout. I stayed for two nights in a single room. I'd thought it might be too small, but booked it anyway and it was absolutely fine for one person (as long as you don't need to do a vigorous exercise routine or wave your arms around a lot!). The coffee pod machine was very welcome, and there was also a basket of biscuits and fruit. The bathroom was well stocked with large bottles of shower gel, etc, should you require them, and the bed was comfy and clean. I've already booked to go back (for Airbourne) next year, with my two friends, so we'll just park the car up when we arrive, and then simply be able to take the short walk into town and not have to worry about drinking and driving for the next four days!

nothing special

There were one or two issues when we were staying here: no plug in the sink and the toilet seat was loose. Both of these issues were resolved quickly, so quickly that you couldn't help wondering why they hadn't sorted them out before we got there so we didn't have to complain! Nice big bed and the location wasn't too bad but the main drawback as far as we were concerned was the lack of breakfast. We were aware it was a room-only guest house before we booked but there was only one place nearby to go to (across a busy road) and although we were assured there were quite a few places "nearby", there weren't unless you want to walk 15-20 minutes which we didn't before breakfast. Really not worth the money for us (£70 pn), will go elsewhere in future.

Lovely guesthouse

Stayed at the Loriston for the weekend of the South Coast Ultra Challenge. What a gem! We had the attic apartment, comprising two rooms and a bathroom... perfect for a family. Everywhere was fresh and pristine. The owner/manager was friendly and welcoming, offering to store our bags after we checked out so we could go for a wander along the seafront before catching our train home. We were all so impressed by the standard of the service and accommodation, especially given the price! Would highly recommend.
