Pretty good family vacation
Opinión escrita el 18 de Julio de 2021
We took our toddlers here for a few days to get away for a bit. I was a little worried about cleanliness because of some previous reviews but our room was pretty clean. There was some bad like scale buildup on the faucet in the bathtub but no mold. The room could do with some upgrades especially the stained carpet but overall it was fine. The hallways did have a musty smell but I can imagine its hard to keep that at bay when you have an indoor Waterpark and live in a humid region like Virginia.
Our overall experience with staff was great. There were a couple staff members who were exceptionally great with my toddlers. I really wish I could remember the name of the staff member who helped me and toddlers at Oliver's mining sluice. So great and helpful and kind to my kiddos.
Some attractions were closed due to covid/short staffing but overall there was enough things for my kiddos to be entertained. I knew they'd get a kick out of magi quest but didn't expect them to love it as much as they did. It was worth it to pay for the extra wand attachments instead of sticking with the bare wand. Some of the sensors are tricky to get so I think some need replacing (or the glass around it needs replacing) but easy and fun for all.
I wish the putt-putt had been open so my kids could try it out but oh well. Maybe next time.
The food was definitely mediocre. I'm glad I only opted for the breakfast pkg. If it hadn't been so convenient to stay on site for breakfast I would have taken them off for that too.
I didn't think the Wolf Pass would be worth it for my toddlers but it turned out to be worth the money for sure. I'd get it again too or maybe try one of their other passes depending on what I think my kids would do.
Overall we enjoyed our stay and would come back. It would be great if they could upgrade/renovate rooms though.
This is definitely NOT Niagara Falls!

My family and I visited GWL in Niagara Falls in 2019 and had an amazing time... Here is that review-
"The most satisfying family vacation we have ever taken! The entire family had a great time. We were there a whole week and never got bored. The water park was amazing. Fun for all ages, clean, well run. The Magic Quest was a great change of pace to the water park and my 10 year old was enthralled by the quest and seeing his name on the leader board. My 3 year old loved the dance parties and story time and getting to make so many new friends. The food at every meal was tasty and abundant and most of all actually tasted freshly prepared and not generic like some resorts. The resort is centrally located so we were able to leave a few times and see some of the local sites and activities and be back in plenty of time for meals and resort activities. But I think what we liked most of all was the staff. Everyone was outstanding. Always smiling, always helpful, never seemed put out or like they were just doing a job. My only regret was that I didn't carry cash and couldn't tip the way I would have liked. I didn't even think to bring it. When (not if) we come back I will be sure to remedy that. We have been to most of the big name family resorts and Great Wolf Lodge Niagara Falls blew them all away."
Because Canada is closed to travel due to Covid19, and actually GWL is closed up there, we decided to risk it and try one in the other direction; WHAT A MISTAKE! Take almost everything from my review above and flip it to the exact opposite. The staff seems miserable and as if they don't want to be here. No one smiles, no one is asking if you need anything, or how your stay is going. Even at meal time the wait staff is unpleasant and virtually non-existent. I mentioned to the waitress that my meal very poor, and my 5 year old daughter even said to her "I couldn't eat my waffles because they were so hard!" and the waitress just looked at us like "oh well..." and didn't even offer so much as "Sorry 'bout that." Nothing... Not a word! Just cleared the plates and walked away. And speaking of the food... TERRIBLE! The food was clearly mass produced and left to sit out and not replaced until the whole tray was gone, regardless of how cold and dried out it got. The menu choices were the same all 5 days we were there and they were VERY limited. I don't know if that's because of Covid but I can't see why that would be it. Compared to the near gourmet level of food we had in Niagara falls this food was worse than cheap fast food, and in fact after a few days we started eating out and door dashing food even though we had already paid for the meal plan. The ONLY good part of the stay was the magic quest, which fortunately had new adventures and the staff inside the "Magic Shop" especially Ryan, were very friendly, helpful and engaging. They definitely saved the trip for my kids. That and the fact that the cleaning staff did seem to do a very good job keeping the place clean are why it's getting 2 out of 5.
Overall we will never be going back to GWL Virginia. I will definitely try Niagara again but I'm reluctant to try any U.S. based GWL again!

We had an awesome trip! Still not fully staffed so had to wait but the kids had a great time! There was a tropical storm outside but the kids had a blast inside! Food at the buffet was ok think next time we will just get the pizza. Kids had fun with all the activities.
Overall ok, but less stuff to do than other GWL

We stayed in room 3046. The room was clean, the deck was a nice size, and the hallways smelled fresh. As is par for the course of any GWL, the floors sound hollow and you can hear every time a child runs or jumps in the room above you. Bring a sleep aid, either headphones or medication. You can cook in your suite, so we always bring a hot plate, George Forman & skillet. The microwave worked well, the fridge didn’t include a freezer and kinda kept things chilled. For the most part, we kept everything in our cooler. The waterpark is smaller than other GWLs, and since most of the tubes run outside, inclement weather leaves only a few options. We saw a child pull his pants down and pee in the wave pool — we reported the removal of clothes, more so than the pee, because (let’s face it) kids are peeing in the water. The lifeguard did nothing, so I had reported it in the app. The person manning the chat said they would send a supervisor but sent the lifeguard who did nothing instead. I’m sure he will adequately counsel himself :eyeroll: Many of the lifeguards seemed like they were in lala land, so you will need to watch your small children. We opted to use the water park first thing in the morning and enter again just before dinner. Most slides you could walk right up to and ride with no wait. Even the bigger attractions (like the funnel) had only a small wait. We used the arcade mod-day; a bunch of the machines were broken and there wasn’t much to pick from at the prize counter. Williamsburg did not do a “deal hour” at the arcade like other GWL. Overall it was a good stay, but I probably wouldn’t go back just because there were fewer things to do in the waterpark compared to other GWL.

Not an awful experience. Just OK. This was our first time visiting a Great Wolf Lodge (Williamsburg). The park itself is not overly big. However, a park map would have been useful (especially on the first day). Our room was clean but a bit beat up/dated (peeling wallpaper, carpet stains, mold in bathroom, etc.). The AC unit in our room worked great but was exceptionally loud. Overall, not bad... we booked a themed room and there are some charming touches... but not great either for the price you pay. Our 8 year old son really enjoyed the outdoor pool, arcade, and indoor water slides. We were looking forward to playing mini golf on-site, but found that this attraction had closed. We ended up going to Pirate’s Cove Adventure Golf nearby and had a great time. Food at the lodge was pricey and mediocre at best. We purchased a meal plan in advance (approximately $500) and immediately regretted it. Dining options were extremely limited. The Loose Moose breakfast and dinner buffets did not change once during our four day stay. You’re better off eating off-site as there are plenty of options. Pierce’s Bar-B-Que is close by, affordable, and delicious. In hindsight we should have booked a 1 or 2 night stay (more than enough), and declined the meal plan (not worth it).
