More about the hotel
Enjoyed our weekend
I chose this hotel as they had a king room for around $80 and it was located near the interstate/restaurants/shopping etc. We decided we wanted to just “stay in” for dinner one night and easily had a papa john’s pizza delivered to our room in about an hour. The room was a little smaller than some king rooms we have stayed in - but the everything was comfortable and clean and the bathroom was large. The lobby is also large, well lit and clean and I felt safe at all times! Staff was very friendly during check in, when I went to the front desk late at night to get a soda, and when I called to double check on check out time. (I appreciated that check out time is noon - later then many places.) Note: vending is very limited and the included breakfast was a bagged granola bar, water and fruit. I understand that this is because of covid and cannot be helped. We love visiting Winchester and would stay here again!
TLC
I have been a Marriott Rewards Member for a long time. This Fairfield needs some TLC. Overall, it was the room was fantastic. There are minor repairs that need to be done. in 201, paint touchups and a nick in the headboard. The shower backsplash needs to be secured more to the wall. in 301,the chair needs to stitched. We did love the extra space.
Good example of Brand
Pleasant stay in Jan 2020. Typical Fairfield inn. All good. Close to Walmart and a shopping mall with restaurants. Hotel clean, breakfast typical. Staff friendly. Will stay again if opportunity arises.
Treats platinum members poorly
Old dated rooms. Refused to upgrade as a platinum member, said no rooms were available despite three showing on the Marriott app. Avoid this hotel as a Marriott Elite. Location is convenient to the interstate but that’s about the only good thing I can think of.
Ok, priced right.
Traveling through on the way to Lynchburg from NYC. I have stayed at many Marriots but never at a Fairfield. Definitly on the lower end of their hotels. Price was low ( week before Carona virus hit) the place was neat and clean. Staff was polite but not particularly friendly. We stopped here on the way home too . Convenient to highway, near an ihop if you miss the free breakfast. Breakfast was ok for a quick bite.
