Convenient to Grace Hospital at Marsha Sharp and 82nd
Room seemed clean. No insects. TV small, but worked. Comfortable mattress. Adequate number of nice towels. Check in girl not rude but not too friendly. Reasonable price. Ice machine didn't work on 3rd floor. Hall carpet was quite dirty. Not stained. Needed to be vacuumed. Thermostat did not work well. Cold most of the night. Reported this to front desk. Ask for extra pillow. Was told they didn't have any. Not bad. Nothing special.
Pleasantly surprised
I like to examine the room when I enter. My room was very comfortable. I ended up with a very spacious room. The front desk was very nice. My bed was very clean. It was a great location for what I needed. All my questions were answered and they were very respectful. This was my first time visiting Lubbock / Wolfforth. The friendliness of the staff made a difference for me. Pros: location Friendly staff Breakfast options oatmeal, cereal, pastries, etc. Clean bed Cons: Hair on bathroom floor Breakfast is open for people to prepare their own plates. (Not everyone is clean and people in the area were coughing no mask. Albeit, they were eating. I will return to this location next month for my next business appointment.
Going downhill
This used to be my go to place to stay when visiting my daughter (she attends Texas Tech University). I will NEVER stay here again!! I arrived a little after 3 PM, which is check in time. I was told my room wasn't ready and asked if I could wait. I had a meeting at 3:15, so I told the lady at the front desk I'd be back. I put my luggage back in my car, went to the meeting and got back to the hotel around 3:45 PM. I was again told my room wasn't ready and was asked to wait in the lobby. Around 4 I was finally given a room. I always ask for a room not near an elevator and wouldn't you know the room I got was the closest one to the elevator. It took forever to get the room I had, so I didn't request a change. I got into the room and immediately could tell it wasn't very clean. I even found used Q-tips in the light holder in the bathroom, NASTY!! The second day there my daughter and I were watching a movie on her MacBook and were SHOCKED when someone used a key card and walked into our room!!! They saw us and walked out without a word. I reported the incident to the front desk and was told "I don't know how that happened" and "I'm sorry". From then on I put a chair in front of the door when I slept. I stay in hotels all the time and this has NEVER happened before! I wrote a letter to the manager of the hotel when I returned home letting them know about my experience. I expected an apology, but never heard from anyone. I will pay the price to stay in a nicer hotel closer to Texas Tech to ensure I get a hotel room that's clean and safe.
Very Nice
This seemed to be a new property. I booked it because it is closest to my son and daughter in laws apartment. .The lobby is laid out as HI express fashion. Our room was on the second floor. We had booked a king but was placed in a room with two queens. Since I had initially booked the wrong dates, I figured it was because of that. The room was appointed well and the bathroom was on the larger end and room for two to move around in. The beds were comfy and the pillows were better than normal. Both of us slept well. The breakfast was good with a wide assortment of hot and cold items. Will definitely stay here in the future.
It’s alright
Very typical HI express. We’ve stayed here a couple times this fall for Tech football games. This trip the check in process was a bit slow with one guy at the front desk talking on the phone while about 6 people waiting he never acknowledged us and just kept assisting the phone customer. Eventually a different person came along and we got checked in but it seemed poorly managed. Ice machine on 3rd floor has never worked either visit. This morning I went down for breakfast and they were out of coffee with nobody around. 20 minutes later she finally shows up with fresh coffee. For those concerned that Wolfforth is too far from Campus don’t worry it’s a quick trip down the Marsha Sharp freeway. We’re also close to great restaurants on Milwaukee ave
