We spent a week here. Super friendly staff, great rooms. Highly recommended. We will be back next year with friends. Loved the pool and beach. Room was clean and comfortable. Thank you to all the staff for a memorable week
A wonderful vacation over the holidays
Our family of four visited Zihunatenejo and Aura Del Mar for the first time the week between Christmas a New Years. We stayed in the Noyoltzi Suite at the very top of the hotel. A spectacular view of the beach and water day and night. The suite had a huge, open air common space and then two large bedrooms with air conditioning and a smaller bedroom. Each bedroom had an en suite bathroom. It was super clean and a terrific place to hang out with a cocktail. The staff is excellent and always available for assistance. They made us all feel very welcome. In particular Hector, both Franciscos and Miguel. Carlos arranged for a snorkeling and fishing trip that were just wonderful. Better snorkeling than in Hawaii and a very successful fishing trip. The Bistro Del Mar was the place to be on New Years Eve. However, the service was always good as we had breakfast there every morning. A particular thank you to Fortunato, Juan Carlos and Claudeth at the restaurant. The steps did not bother us and frankly were less than we were expecting given the reviews. Having been to several ecolodges the stairs at Aura Del Mar were a piece of cake. Our only request would be that the refridgerator in the suite be replaced. It did not cool particularly well. The freezer did a better job than the fridge. Nice to have plenty of filtered water to drink in our suite. We liked our visit to Aura Del Mar so much that we booked in again.
Pros - Great location, on Madera Beach, walking distance to town. Great views. Staff are very nice, they go out of their way to make sure you are taken care of. Lush tropical Boutique setting, older building, very warm and charming. They have 2 large beautiful resident Parrots. Stairs - not a place for you if you have any difficulty with them. There are a lot of them. You can’t avoid them. Cons - a bit pricey for rooms that could use some updating. Had a few visitors - two cockroaches and a huge spider. A little unnerving but the hotel has a lot of foliage in and around the building which adds to its character. The food in the restaurant is just OK and a bit pricey. We preferred eating where the locals eat, there are plenty of restaurants to choose from on the beach and on the boardwalk. Spa prices too are expensive. You can get the same services on the beach for half the prices. We did enjoy our stay but will chose a different hotel next time.
Nice and quiet
This Hotel sits on Madera beach and has all the conveniences you will need to make your holiday a success. Decorated in Mexican style the rooms have ample space and offers an outside deck with two lounge chairs, place for a hamac and a view to die for on the bay. The restaurant is on the beach and offers food for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The food is delicious the service is great and the view is incredible. We were here the week before Christmas and the place is nice and quiet. They have an exercise room, a massage room on the beach, a huge pool and many decks thru out the facility and this is a medium size hotel which you will definitely enjoy.
My husband and I just left this wonderful hotel yesterday after a week long stay. We have been coming to Ixtapa/Zihuatanejo for many years but this was our first time at the Hotel Aura Del Mar. It was perfect for us!! I’m hesitant to gush about it because I want to keep it all to myself! But the people that own and operate it as well as their staff need to be commended for their friendliness, attentiveness, the beautiful grounds, the delicious food and the clean, comfortable rooms. Rosalba at the front desk is so sweet and helped me with my Spanish. She offered us an ice cold beer upon our arrival and check-in and out was a breeze. Our room, a junior jacuzzi suite, was amazing! We had an unobstructed view of the entire bay. As other reviews indicated, because we were close to the lobby we could hear the parrots and they were pretty squawky in the late afternoon. But they were put to bed fairly early so it didn’t bother us. Yes, there are steep steps, a lot of them, between the top and the bottom. 110 from our room to the beach. But no one sets the pace except you and there are many places to stop and see interesting things and places to sit if you need to. It was not a problem for us. We found the other guests to be primarily older couples who have been coming for several years which was really nice to hear. We’re not interested in the party scene anymore and the vibe was very relaxed and quiet. The food is excellent and very reasonably priced. Fortunato took great care of us in the restaurant and also at the beach! Jesus, Lucio, Luis, Juan Carlos and both Francisco’s were also amazing staff members that made our stay there easy and wonderful! The beach itself is small, uncrowded and clean and has about 5 other beach restaurants. The new walkway, will take you into Zihua in about a 10 minute stroll. There are a lot of other food options just outside the hotel on the street side as well. You won’t go hungry or thirsty! This is by far our favorite place now and we’ll be back for many years to come!!
